Recently, someone asked me if they could print one of my blogs so that they could share it with their family at the dinner table. I didn't see any problems with that, so I said of course (I actually felt honored).

Then several days ago, I read a blog Printing tip for AR blog posts - CLOSE THE TAG CLOUD that got me thinking. I realized that there were probably more people printing blogs that I might have imagined.

I looked over my blogs and decided to create them in pdf, and a link "print this blog". This would allow a perfect print each time. This would prevent distortions, wasted paper, words being cut, etc.

print

So here are some of my printable blogs:

  1. Domain Names are Becoming 21st century Real Estate!
  2. Location, Location, Location . . . for a Domain Name?
  3. Oil Change economics
  4. Real Estate, is it the Right Investment for you?
  5. Riches in the Rubble
  6. Rule of 72
  7. What's in a Domain Name?

Here are the links for the actual blogs:

  1. Domain Names are Becoming 21st century Real Estate!
  2. Location, Location, Location . . . for a Domain Name?
  3. Oil Change economics
  4. Real Estate, is it the Right Investment for you?
  5. Riches in the Rubble
  6. Rule of 72
  7. What's in a Domain Name?

What do you think? If you like the idea, you can do it too. Once you have the blog written, it doesn't take much more time. I will write a follow-up blog with directions for anyone who doesn't know how to do this.

Peter- Great Marketing Idea.  The ability to print it in your "chosen" pdf makes it a much more powerful marketing piece

06/06/2008 08:05 AM by Spencer Hill (Hill Asset Management)

Never even thought of making the blog printable. I like the idea.

06/06/2008 08:17 AM by Chuck Carstensen (Re/max Associates Plus/The Discovery Coach)

thanks Peter I liked the idea. It defintiely makes it more user-friendly for those that want to view them ro print them. Now wouldn't it be a good idea to put them all in one place so that people can access them like that too...

Great minds think alike.  Or maybe its something in the air.  I offered my blog-to-PDF work-around just yesterday.  :-)

Peter, Great idea.  I was wondering how to do this.  I think I will go back later and work on this?  Thanks!!  Well, maybe Maria will go back and work on this and show me how later ;-)

Great idea...I don';t know how often my blogs are that interesting to folks...maybe we should have a little icon at AR that indicates that this blog is also available as a PDF just click here...AR Gods are you listening ?

Jeannette, Gary, Janet, I'll let you know when I post more details on this subject.

Spencer, thanks. there seam to be so many great blogs and so many people still wanting (or in some cases needing to) print.

Chuck, thank you.

Michael, I agree, that's the next step.

Cheryl, I'll assume that your also very smart ;-)

Sign me up please for the insructions!? Could you do a short piece & tell me how? Thanks for your post & sharing your knowledge. :)

06/06/2008 08:35 AM by Lyn Sims - Northwest Suburban Chicago Homes (RE/MAX Suburban)

Sally & David, thanks, I'm not sure how interesting your blogs might be either, but some of your comments defintiely are :-) I'm sure the next step will be to make it more available for everyone and have print icons too.

Cheryl Johnson

Lyn, thanks, you're in luck. Cheryl Johnson beat me to it. She actually wrote an instructional blog yesterday: Convert Blog Posts to PDF E-Book

Jeannette, Gary, Janet and anyone else who wants to see how its done, check out Cheryl's blog.

There are probably several other ways that this can be done, so whatever works best for you. I think the importance is that we are now starting to realize this and will work toward making it available and possible for everyone.

I didn't know about that little minus beside the tags.  I actually printed too many pages the other day and wondered how to do a printing without all those tags.  Thanks for teaching me something!

06/06/2008 10:27 AM by Barbara S. Duncan ABR, CRS, GRI, e-PRO Searcy AR (RE/MAX Advantage)

Barbara, thanks, I just learned about that too. I generally never print webpages, it wasn't until someone asked me that I began to think about it.

I guess even teachers can be taught :-)

Kathy, thank you. the pdf will allow a consistant print, I just wish there was a way to upload the pdf files onto the AR server (similarly to the photos).

This is a superb example of creativity and great customer service...Charles

Charles, thanks very much. If a blog is worth reading, it may be worth printing. Many people still prefer to print, then read later or keep as reference.

08/02/2008 01:25 PM by John Occhi Hemet CA Real Estate (Century 21 Crest - Crest REO)

John, thanks, good luck. pdf's do make it easier to create printable materials for trade shows, books or whatever.

08/04/2008 03:27 PM by Peter Z. Nikic

Thanks to All !

Being a "Newbie" (here anyways..), first thing I wanted to do was print.

Will try Cheryl's steps and let you know how it goes.

BTW- the link to NVU doesn't work, so I googled it and found a cnet link to download.

09/09/2008 07:58 PM by Eric Hartshorn (Crosby & Associates Realty)

Thanks Peter, I went to the link you provided to Georgia Hunter of Maui, and this is so easy even I can do it.

Have A Great Day

You're a good man!

Thank you for giving your fellow Rainers the opportunity to print what they feel is relevant to their clients.

It's a great idea and hopefully it'll catch on.

By the way, as a former NY'er I've been to Pleasantville many times. I know why they call it

"PLEASANT-ville"!!!

09/15/2008 08:37 AM by Craig Rutman (Just NC Homes)

Castellum, thanks. I think there is other newsletter specific software, but this is great for ensuring your material will print the way you intended it ot print.

Craig, you're welcome, yes, Pleasantville is definitely a Pleasant place. Glad you had the opportunity to see it first hand.
