I enjoy when a song tells a story. In this case the story is by a band named Lynyrd Skynryd. Skynrd is a rock band that has often billed themselves as the King's of Southern Rock.

The band released their first album in 1973. With songs like Sweet Home Alabama, Simple Man and Free Bird, their popularity continued to grow as they released a new album every year until 1977.

Unfortunately, in October 1977 lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines and backup singer Cassie Gaines were killed in a plane crash. The rest of the band continued to perform under various other names and with different members

1987 the remaining five band members reunited and continue to perform with Johnny Van Zant, Ronnie's younger brother, as the lead singer.

The song I have chosen for today's Soundtrack is Gimme Three Steps. It is a fun tale of the life of a rock star on the road. The story goes that the song was based on an true life experience that singer Ronnie Van Zant had at a bar. When a biker pulled a gun on him for dancing with "Linda Lou", a woman that was presumably the man's girlfriend. In the song Van Zant asks the biker to give him three steps toward the door. The situation led him to write the song. It has over time become one of the bands more popular standards.

Hang in there and listen to Gimme Three Steps.

Good Morning Joseph Domino 480-390-6011  It seems like there's a "Linda Lou" in every bar. Good song from a good band

I haven't heard that song in a really long song.  The music of the 60s was the best, but I enjoyed a lot of the 70s stuff too.
