Another chance for a Triple Crown winner and this year it looks like it truly may happen with Big Brown at an opening line of 2-5.

He's in post positin #1 but that shouldn't matter with this being a 10 horse race and a length of a mile and a half.

With Big Brown being such a big fav for the '3' races... it's been tough to parlay a nice score.

I nailed Denis of Cork as a Show in the Derby with some nice money. But missed on the Preakness.

So..what to do in the Belmont.   Well, the odds will change from today.. but right now I may go with $50 on a Show bet again with Anak Nakal at 30-1 .........and perhaps something with Ichbad Crane at 20-1

Anyone looking at this race yet?  Thoughts.

Rob,

I think history will be made.  Big Brown seems to have a lot of heart (no pun intended) and that means a lot.  Plus, this horse loves his job, which makes a difference.

Rob -

I got to tell you.  I think Big Brown is going to do what Secretariat did years ago.  Win by about 30 lengths.  He won the Kentucky Derby pretty handily and he made the Preakness look like a walk in the park.  The line this morning shows Brown at 1 - 3 and 2nd is Casino Drive at 5 - 2.  There is no value in that obviously.  I am more than likely going to take a shot at an exacta hoping for the longer shot to come in 2nd.  I just don't know if Casino Drive is a good bet for 2nd.

If I were at the betting window right now, I would play:

$20 exacta - Big Brown with Anak Nakal, Ichbad Crane or Macho Again.

Good luck tomorrow.  I am going down to Mountaineer Park to bet a few races and maybe play some poker or blackjack.

Casino Drive is a surmountable foe...only 2 starts, but won both of them by a total of 16 1/2 lengths.  So, that is the chief competition for Big Brown.  I hope BB wins!!!

Rob - I am so disappointed by the outcome of the Belmont.  I really wanted to see a Triple Crown winner but Big Brown clearly didn't have it in him at the top of the stretch.  I hope we get to see him in the Breeder's Cup Classic.

I have to say, I am disappointed as well.  I am a big time racing fan.  30 years ago for the last triple crown winner, I was only a few months old, so basically, I have never seen a triple crown winner.

At the very beginning of the race, Big Brown was jerking his head around and was moving around in an odd manner.  At first, I thought that Brown really wanted to run.  I thought Desormeaux did a good job to calm Brown down.  Then when they got to the 3/4 pole, I expected the same move that he has made in the previous two races and it wasn't there.  I realized that his jerkiness was not a desire to run but rather a hint of pain.

I have been reading all the reports about Big Brown and they all say that he seems fine and they are not sure what the problem was on Saturday.  Although I am disappointed in the outcome of the race, I am more thankful that Big Brown is okay.

P.S. Congratulations to De' Tara.  As the longest shot on the board at 38 - 1, no one really gave him a chance and he ran an excellent race!

I had a great day with Anak Nakal nailing the Show. Pulled in $190.  I did however drop $26 ON OTHER COMBOS.

I heard they are getting Big Brown ready for the Travers.  That will be interesting to see how he runs there.

Maybe Big Brown didn't like the thick sand at the Belmont or the hot weather or 3 races in 5 weeks was just too much.  Maybe next year?????

I was disappointed and felt sorry for Big Brown.

Rob... what a bust. But I can't believe that the owner is now blaming the jockey. Only if the horse could talk.... lol

I also heard about the owner blaming the jockey.  I give kudos to Desormeaux for pulling up.  No matter what the circumstances, if the horse is having problems, you pull up.  I would support Desormeaux's decision a million times over.
