Friday, July 5th will be a State Holiday in Maryland
Gov. Hogan declared Friday, July 5, a state holiday for 2019. The announcement means that state employees will have the day off to continue their Fourth of July celebrations after Thursday.
For the closure Friday, July 5, state universities in the midst of summer session were given some leeway; they can stay open if they would like July 5 to allow for class and exam schedules to continue as planned, and they can reschedule the holiday for a later date, the governor advised.
