Kishey A Edwards wife of R F Edwards tombstone Searcy AR

Mishey A Edwards Born June 1853 Died April 1903

Found.  Broken tombstone.

My friend was working on a fixer-upper when he dug into an old storage pit.  He found this old tombstone and wonders if anyone knows the family or how the stone got into this spot.  It is definitely old.  The top part says, "Mishey A wife of R F Edwards."

The bottom part says "Born June 23 1853  Died April 19 1903."

The address where the stone was found was 805 N Birch in Searcy.  My friend wants to return it to the family if anyone can give information regarding a family.  And he would give it to the Historical Society if they wanted it.

Hello Barbara - and this discovery may lead to solving a mystery or two/  How did a tombstone end up in a fixer upper property?  Residential or commercial?  Any information from the previous owners?

According to Find A Grave, she and her husband are buried in Prince Cemetery at Bald Knob. The tombstone in a modern one. There are children listed on Find A Grave.

It would be wonderful if the stone could be returned to family.  I like that JL Edwards shed more light on the individual in comment #3.

Thanks for commenting, Myrl, JL, Michael, and Jayne.  It has been amazing and a family member has been found and she wants the tombstone.  Facebook friends got busy and searched history and one of them called the family member who called me.  We had thought that the stone had been replaced because of the newer, nicer one with both husband and wife on it.  However, the family member said the old one had been stolen so the family got together and replaced it with the newer one.

I guess the mystery now is who stole it and why?  But it seems to be going back to the family who loved her!

Barbara , Words cannot express my happiness and shock in this wonderful memory being found. If only my Daddy and his Daddy were alive to see this wonderful find. Mishey Keeling Edwards and Robert Franklin Edwards., were my great grandparents, Buried in The Prince Cemetery. My grandpa and my daddy always said it had been stolen. The grandchildren (my Daddy and his cousins) bought a little one. She died even before my Daddy was born , So thank you more than I can express.

Arlene, I feel so happy about this find also.  You must prepare to pick it up and share it with the family.  Imagine!  It is over 100 years old.  Perhaps the Searcy Sleuths (you must become familiar with them) can now find out why it was stolen and perhaps who stole it.

Thank you Barbara! Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to find Mishey's A. Edwards family. She was my great grandmother. Over all these years, -- undoubtedly many people have seen her tomb stone and wonder where it came from, --- but only you, made the successful effort to find Mishey's family. We will always be grateful. Bill Keen, Chico CA.

Bill Keen, thank you for the nice comment.  Don't give me credit, however, because in the past no one had the ability to do what we can do today.  Putting it on a blog and then sharing the blog on facebook did the job.  Lots of people in the area like the "White County as I remember it" facebook group and that is where someone saw it and called Ms. Bright and asked her if she knew anything about it.  The rest was inspirational!  And there you are, in California, knowing about it by way of the internet!  If you need or want to call me, just call.  I am a real estate agent, phone 501 278 6817.
