How to Handle Disney World in Different Weather

When you're planning a trip to Disney World, sometimes you're so busy staying within budget, where you'll eat, and getting the best FastPass reservations, that you may forget one thing -- being prepared for the weather.

Here are some quick tips to help you manage three possible types of weather:

1) Heat

This is the most obvious one, and the most likely one, especially in the middle of the day and during the summer months.

The best to manage the heat is to be prepared. Wear moisure wicking clothes (no denim!),  and consider a misting fan and a cooling towel. (We love the Frogg Togg Chill Pad.) Be aware of the indoor, air conditioned rides at the park you'll be at each day, and take a break in the middle of the day, when it's the hottest, to go back to your hotel for a nap and/or a dip in the pool.

2) Rain

In addition to being extra hot, the summer months can be extra rainy. The good news is that the rain often doesn't last long, so if you manage for around 30 minutes, you can go back to your scheduled plan -- and if you're lucky, the park may have even cleared out a little!

Be prepared by bringing some disposable ponchos and, again, be aware of the indoor rides so you duck into one of them (or a gift shop) if it suddenly begins to pour.

3) Cold Winter Evenings

If you've been to Disney World recently, especially in the spring or summer, you may be laughing at this. Dealing with cold weather was probably the farther thing from your mind!

But it's true: In the winter, the weather can get cold in the evening. Once we went in November and there was one particular evening that we were in Epcot, were all wearing jackets and jeans, and were still uncomfortably cold.

Again, if you're prepared this can be a good thing, because many other people won't be prepared and the park will thin out considerably.

If you're going in the winter months, definitely pack long pants and a fleece jackets. Also seriously consider having fingerless mittens, ear muff, and/or a wool hat.

I hope this article has been helpful! Being prepared can definitely make your Disney trip go more smoothly.

Even though I may not return to Disney World again in my lifetime this is very good info for anyone traveling anywhere on vacation. As the Boy Scouts say "Be Prepared".

Haven't been to Disneyland for some time. Although, these tips can still be utilized in other places. It is always good to be prepared and thanks for sharing.

Having been to Disney in the heat of the summer, be sure to carry drinks with you.  Another trick I have kept in mind it to make a neckerchief containing water absorbant material like you use for floral arrangements, make it wet and tie it around your neck to keep you cool.  We made many of these and sent them to our soldiers in Iraq when my son was in the Army.
