I just wanted to take a moment to let those survivors of one of the greatest battles in the last century know how thankful I am for their courage. There were other great battles fought in that war and in other wars, where courage held the day. It is just that this day has always been Holy to me. Like a lot of other people, I had an Uncle that fought across Omaha Beach some 44 years ago. He was lucky, he came home, there were so many that didn't.
The horror that he described to me in unimaginable, yet I know that it happened, for I have seen the documentaries where soldiers from both side described it, not that I didn't believe my Uncle, it was just the surety of the other participants.
So to my Uncle, to those that are still living and to those heroes that have passed on; once again a heartfelt thank you for your courage, honor and sacrifice! That goes to every vetran of every war! Thank you!!!
