This Week...Appreciating Nature.

Despite temperatures close to and sometimes over 100 degrees this week, we have spent a lot of time bonding with Mother Nature. And, we are the better for it.

One touch of nature makes the whole world kin. William Shakespeare

Larry has been busy trying to keep the bluebird babies cool in our 95++ degree weather. Right now it’s 95 and feels like 101. More on that next week.

Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you. Frank Lloyd Wright

Our morning walks here and when we were in Florida have allowed us to observe and be a part of Mother Nature’s daily show.

In all things of nature, there is something of the marvelous. Aristotle

We’ve been getting to know the different birds in the Houston area. Besides our bluebird parents, we have all sized birds from hummingbirds to hawks.

The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature, and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be. Anne Frank

Have a weekend enjoying nature!

Put My Love of Nature At Work for You

One of my favorite Anne Frank quotes - you are obviously speaking our language in this post. Lately, the never-ending kitchen remodel and complicated transactions are challenging our moods, getting out in nature reminds us that this too shall pass - and that there is a solution and end date out there. Enjoy every moment of your day, Kathy.

Living in the heart of San Francisco as I do, nature is still an enjoyable--and necessary--part of our lives. Luckily it's easy to find here.

Question: how does Larry keep the baby bluebirds cool? (All I can think of is shadecloth and water mist.)

Hi Kathy,
I love your pictures.  Nature (plants and animals) are fascinating when you take the time to really look.  It's so easy to get caught up in the bigness of our world but when we hone in on the details, it's absolutely astounding.  I became more aware of this when I got into doing some macro photography.  The details of nature are really quite mind-boggling.

Wow Kathy,  You came up with some great pictures to share with us here in the rain.  I hope you will not get some rain from the Hurricane.

Michael Jacobs I'd never heard that quote but fell in love with it when I read it.

Sharon Lee I wasn't sure what it was but thought it might be some kind of finch. Your favorite blue bird babies left the nest today!!! We got to see some of them fly away. We read that they will continue to be fed by mom and dad for 30 days.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® I can remember when we lived in Northern VA. I saw birds I'd never seen in the south!  And I saw my first chipmunk!

Hi Grant Schneider that was the first time a butterfly hung around long enough for me to get a photo!!! And thank you for asking but so far it's our neighbors near New Orleans that are getting the heavy rains.

100 degree weather is brutal.  I enjoy Michigan summers now.  Much better in the 70-high 80's.

Morning Kathy.

It's 02:51AM on Sunday.  T-time is about 5 hours away.  Need to get out there and finish it, before the heat really hits.

Yes they do that. The bird on the tree I believe is a nut hatch because they come down the tree like that but never seen one that color and couldn't find a pic of one.
