In the course of my trip to Mongolia I saw divergent sights and experienced any number of things I never could have imagined. The Gobi Desert is more than sand and heat. There are places where the rocky formations are incredible and challenge the reality of of expectations with creeks running through areas where ice is present.
The hike here was roughly 6 miles and the terrain was varied and difficult. In the next picture you will note a patch of ice with a hole in it. No walk in the park.
And then there is the sandy area where the hills are large and the heat extreme.
And yes, I rode a camel and it was scary.
