Are you using your e mail program to its full potential???

Lots of full featured e mail program do more than just send and receive e mail.

Probably one of the most underutilized features is the spellchecker. When you're sending or replying to email involving a buyer or seller it's very important to not only use proper grammar but also to make sure your spelling is correct.

I have used Eudora Pro for my e mail client for many years now and the spellchecker is one of the features I use most often.

Often used e mail addresses can be put into an address book within a email program so you don't forget them.

Eudora also has a cool feature called "Scam Watch" that works like this: "Locating the cursor over an embedded email hypertext link produces a URL check. If the link served in email is different from the landing page URL or is an IP address rather than a hostname, a yellow pop-up window points out the difference."

This features alerts you the URL you're fixing to visit is different from the one it says it is, i.e. if the link says http://www.ebay.com/ and the pop up window says you're fixing to go to http://www.i'mgonnatakeyourmoney.com/ then you probably should stop right there.

You an also set up pre-written e mail for routine tasks and replies, Eudora calls these "Stationary".

Filters can sort incoming (and outgoing) e mails into separate mailboxes to help you manage your e mail better and more efficiently. I have over 50 mailboxes set up for various things; Active Rain has it's own mailbox.

You can also incorporate a filter and a piece of stationary together to make a sort of autoresponder. For instance if I get an e mail addressed to Hooters@JimLee.com I have Eudora programmed to automatically send out a copy of the 2006 Hooters Calendar.

To keep from jamming my in box (I got about 150 inquiries the last time I mentioned this) you can also get your free Hooter's Calendar online at:

Additionally you can set up signature files to keep from typing the same thing over and over, i.e.

(865) 693-3232, My Personal Toll Free # 1-800-662-2488 ext. 163

is my standard, garden variety signature line, I have several others set up for different emails.

To make sure you're using your e mail program to it's fullest potential and getting the most benefit from it you need to spend some time learning all of it's features.

If you're not using a good, full featured e mail program let me take this opportunity to strongly recommend Eudora PRO. I believe its $49.95 for the full version. There's a "Eudora Light" version if you would like to take it for a test drive before buying.

Happy e mailing.

Jim, it always amazes me to see such poor spelling and writing on our public forums.

Seems to me that if those writers don't practice 'safe spelling' when writing for us, then, I'm sure that they don't use dictionaries or spell checkers when emailing clients.

We are judged by our language skills...and email is a written record that allows for NO mistakes.
