Summer in Stockbridge........

I travel to distant and beautiful places but coming home is always special. About eight years ago I moved to Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Stockbridge is the home to the world renowned illustrator Norman Rockwell and is essentially the same as it was when Rockwell lived here. We have no stop lights, we have no mail delivery, or trash pickup and the population is still under 1000. There is something very special about real small town living and I enjoy it in every season, but summer is for gardening and that is special for me.

I wrote a long post with numerous pictures and poof they are gone. I will upload the pictures again but the words were not easy for me and I can not write them again.

 

This last picture is at Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony and the Boston Pops. Additionally there are numerous contemporary artists who span every type of music from Renee Fleming to Sting, Lady Gaga to YoYo Ma.

I live in a great area and I am grateful.

And, by the way, if your text disappears while you are writing you can hold down the ALT key and hit the Z key once or twice and your text will reappear.  This happens fairly often to me. I thought it was my computer.

Hi Sheila Anderson my town was always a very small town... and I not only watched it grow, but I assisted with selling plenty of land and subdivisions to a couple of local builders.... we did a great job because now we're a small city.... but I still enjoy it and it will always be home.

I can fully relate to how attached you have become to the features of a small town...and everyone knowing every one....

I know that kind of small town Sheila, my friends in NH (I used to live there) call one home. No post office, one traffic light, a very quaint little Main Street and everybody knows one another, it's the essence of community. You are very lucky indeed!
