Waipio Gentry Sunset

Picturesque is the scene; falling into a trance,

Reminiscing on memories that are fading in the back of my mind.

Struggling to hold on to a vivid image; reminding me

Cherishing the memories; to remember and hold dear

Beauty just a step away; the sunset at dusk

Of peace, tranquility and silence

And all that is....my father.

Dedicated to my father:   October 10, 1929 to February 25, 2004

* It's just getting close to Father's Day and started thinking about him when I got home from the office yesterday evening. I glanced outside right then...and a flood of memories came popping up.

I remember.

Awe. That is so sweet. Great pictures. Aren't we lucky to live Hawai'i? I would shrivel up and die if i ever had to leave.

What did you use to put that copyright on your pictures?  Great idea!

Sally, The photos are awesome and so are your memories.  There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of my father...and though it's been over 30 years, I can still "hear" his laugh.

Sally- I have always believed that when the pictures fade that the heart has a way of expanding to make room for the memories.  I find sitting and just "being" helps me to not only visualize what I want but also feel the emotions that a particular memory evokes.

This was a nice tribute to your father, as was the one last year.  Next year you will be in a place where you will truly be able to feel all the emotions, and that plane ride will be your tribute.  Everyday that you do well, everyday that you inspire someone else, and everyday that you embrace life you are giving tribute to your father........

Hi Sally, You knew I'd be dropping by soon. At least I hope you did. The photos were vivid and beautiful. The thoughts and the prose was so well suited to the testimony you wanted to share of your love for your Dad. Your memories live large and always will.

Fathers day was always special. I used to tell my Dad that Father's Day was his day to rack in all the stuff. He did OK as I remember but with all his brood (13kids), he was in his glory. He was an only child and I suppose that was his way of expressing that discontent but as he would say, " I think I over did it" "but I'll keep em all".

Sally,

Thank you for sharing this special moment.  The pictures are just AWESOME and I am sure they only capture half of the beauty of what you experienced the sky to look like that day. What better scenery could you have asked for when reminiscing about the love of your Father!
