"Out with the old. In with the new."
Ok, so it's 11:30 at night and I don't have time to figure out why these pictures are coming out sideways but you get the drift of the Before and After. Maybe I'll fix it later.
This isn't a typical Summer Fun post. I mean who would consider having to remove all their furniture to have the floors resurfaced to be fun? Getting ready for this project was a LOT of work, not to mention a mess during the process. It's almost like moving... maybe worse because of the mess! I'm putting it in the Summer Fun Challenge, hosted by Anna Banana Kruchten CRB, CRS 602-380-4886 though because I think it's fun to brag about other people. I am so impressed with the subcontractors that worked on my project.
We hear a lot these days how hard it is to get good help. I want to send out big kudos to some of the great help available in Wenatchee. I contracted this project through Columbia River Interiors in Wenatchee. Tim was my contact person at CRI and arranged all the subs for the various jobs.
Other than packing up my stuff, I arranged to have a storage pod delivered to my house to put all my stuff in. The pod was an awesome answer to where to put my furniture during the flooring project. It was arranged through East Wenatchee Mini Storage. Sometime I will write about that whole process, which was very interesting.
The movers who filled the pod were amazing. They were so nice and worked tirelessly to get the pod loaded as I requested. Not surprising that all my stuff didn't fit into the pod, so we agreed to store stuff behind the pod, where it was out of the weather and unnoticeable to anyone walking or driving by. They also took great care to tarp off the outside items to protect them from airborne dust and pollen.
The installer was also amazing. He worked from 8:00 - 6:30 the first day and 8:00 am - 8:30 pm the second day. Due to a snafu (which was partly my fault) the kitchen didn't get finished but it will be soon I'm sure.
So, even though my flooring project isn't totally finished I am loving my new floors. A lot of work but well worth it. I am going to enjoy these floors for a long time!
Hi Myrl Jeffcoat
I put it off for a long time because of the hassle of moving all the furniture out! I can't believe how many books I had to box up. I'm glad it's nearly done.
Hi Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543
Thank you. I am changing things up a bit and purging before I put things back together.
Hi Wayne Martin
Yes, the moving back in part has been more fun than the packing up and moving out part. I've been purging as I go.
Hi Nina Hollander
This is something I've wanted to do for a long time but have been putting off because of all the hassle and coordination of moving parts to get it done. Thankfully, I have an upstairs bedroom and bathroom so didn't have to move out of the house during the process.

Hi Grant Schneider
Yes, there was a lot of coordination that had to go on. I was able to move upstairs for a few days during the process so that helped a lot.
Carol,
I love your new floors, they are lovely. By the way, all you have to do is rename the pictures and load them up again. I have had that happen to me also. Wishing you a wonderful august. A

It is tough to see the results, the pictures are sideways, but I can still tell that the flooring has been greatly improved! I am going to replace my flooring fairly soon too, it is due.

I remember putting in new flooring in the kitchen in my home in N.Y. One difference. I did it myself and had very little to move.

Carol you're new look is awesome! I love it! And guess what, the photos showed up fine on my iphone. Whenever I've taken photos on iphone pics show up sideways. I just rotate them in paint pro (or whatever program you have) and save them with new name. Easy peasy.
I'm glad you're on the downside of this remodel. It's a huge job. I know from experience. You figured it out perfectly with the container and with lots of great help. And I know you're going to love the new look for years to come!

Hi Alexandra,
Thanks. I was in a hurry and need to go in and frame them too, so I'll get that fixed eventually. I appreciate the tip.
Happy Friday!

Hi Michael Jacobs
I may floor you but you make me ponder.
Happy Friday!

Hi Brian England
Mine was so overdue! It makes a huge difference and I love them. Share before and after pictures when you do yours. That's always fun.

Hi Sharon,
I did the kitchen and my office before I moved in here 15 years ago. Soooo much easier without furniture and other stuff. A friend and I did it then but I'm beyond those kind of DIY projects now. LOL
Hi Anna Banana Kruchten CRB, CRS 602-380-4886
The flooring guy may be back today. I hope so. I'm ready to get this baby wrapped up and get things put back in place. I'm doing a lot of purging in the process.
Happy Friday!
Hi Carol:
That's quite a project but they look beautiful.
I have been through a flooring change several times - carpet to tile, tile to wood, and having hardwood floors refinished. It's a big project and you certainly want the right people, as you clearly found in your own experience!
Jeff
Looks great, and so worth the hassle. You will enjoy these beautiful floors for a long time.
Finally, our kitchen remodel is going to get wrapped up soon. The electrician is out two weeks, and he is the final step. I'm already loving it and, somewhat, forgetting the pain.

Hello Carol, funny on the pictures at first. Looks great on the floors and now you can enjoy them and find another project.
Ah the smell of new floor covering, some hate it, I love it Carol Williams
