Here's How I used a very large basket

By
Real Estate Agent WV0026375

I was going to give the basket away until I decided that I could use it outside and plant flowers in it... the tree roots make it hard to grow flowers in this area.  To add flowers,  I started using the flower pots stored in the garage.  I will be adding more flowers.

A tip from my sister-- She suggested that I buy bags of topsoil. Cut them open, punch holes in the bottom,  add flowers in the soil then top the bag with mulch. Definitely going to try this.

This fall I will clean the basket and paint it white.

How pretty and how clever, Rebecca! I'm always so envious of people who can think up these things as my brain just doesn't go there. Then again, I don't garden! I think of it as punishment for my sins to have to garden!

Rebecca- what a wonderful idea. I too don't like throwing things away that could still have some use! I love the look of your basket out front and I love your sister's idea. I wish I'd known that with one of our homes that had just such an area. I couldn't get anything to grow there.

Thank you, Brian England

Nina Hollander - my sister repurposes so many things and got me thinking of what I have and not using. I don't mind gardening but does take a lot of time and it is hard on my knees :)

Likewise, I have a 2 wheel barral meant for flowers. Grandson uses it to push around. I offered a full size garden barral. No, I like my size. It goes with them to strawberry picking field too.

Thanks for post.  A good idea!!  And it looks great.  Not sure how long it will last in the outdoor weather - but great while it is there.
