The World is Mine
As we "mature" more things take more effort each day. We may need to stretch and exercise just to get safely out of bed in the morning. We may need help from medical assistance devices as simple as ankle or knee braces or as complex as mechanical devices or even just canes and scooters. Yet if we can still see, hear, talk and move, we must be thankful and show God our gratefulness fo his graciousness.
A big "Thank You" to Marte for sharing this wonderful poem and reminding us to be grateful.
Remember...
"If you need help, ask God. If you don't, thank God".
Going through old emails, I found a poem a friend sent me last year.It seemed worth sharing...Just this morning, as I was about to leave the rest room at our local grocery store, a woman started to come in the door. She just stood there, looking confused. Finally she pulled her sunglasses from the top of her head and put them on, saying something like "Oh, now I know..." Then she moved into the room and away from the door.I just said good morning and smiled as I started toward the door. She was standing by the wall by then and she said "I hope you have a good morning. And thank you for the smile."It made me wonder about her situation - and wonder if too few people smiled at her.The World is MineToday, upon a bus,I saw a very beautiful womanAnd wished I were as beautiful. When suddenly she rose to leave,I saw her hobble down the aisle. She had one leg and used a crutch. But as she passed, she passed a smile.Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.I have two legs; the world is mine.I stopped to buy some candy. The lad who sold it had such charm.I talked with him, he seemed so glad.If I were late, it'd do no harm. And as I left, he said to me,"I thank you, you've been so kind. It's nice to talk with folks like you.You see," he said, "I'm blind."Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.I have two eyes; the world is mine.Later while walking down the street,I saw a child I knew.He stood and watched the others play, but he did not know what to do.I stopped a moment and then I said,"Why don't you join them dear?"He looked ahead without a word.I forgot, he couldn't hear.Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.I have two ears; the world is mine. With feet to take me where I'd go.With eyes to see the sunset's glow. With ears to hear what I'd know.Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.I've been blessed indeed, the world is mine.If this poem makes you feel thankful, just forward it to your friends. Afterall, it's just a simple reminder that we have so much to be thankful for!Give the gift of love. It never comes back empty!God has truly blessed us!
