Dog Days of Summer-- A Few Ideas To Share

By
Real Estate Agent with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate-Kansas City Homes

I am very excited about this month's Active Rain challenge to hear all the great ideas from around the USA!  I am not a dog lover, totally understand why people love dogs so much, so my post will not include any dog activities!

Our office recently had a get together about this very topic--some unique ways to get customers and clients together for a fun event, or just unique ways to stay in touch.

Here in the midwest, August is the time of year when the tempertures can easily hit 100 and the humidity feels stifling. An idea we came up with was a few agents going together to rent out a local swimming pool for an evening.  The price is reasonable--just $300! It's easy to bring in beverages and drinks, and have pool themed giveaways.  Doing the event with a couple of other agents not only cuts down the costs but also adds more people to socialize with in a larger space.

Another idea we thought of was a car wash coupon or token. (Actually, this would be a good idea any time of year--especially in the winter months.)  Agents can deliver coupons to clients, good for a free wash.  When dropping off the coupon, it could be attached to a reusable water bottle, or car air freshener, or small bar of soap.  It would be easy to get creative with this one!

Finally, we came up with the idea of a drive through dinner.  When it's too hot to cook, but you have to eat, your office parking lot could be set up as a drive through for client to come by and pick up a to go salad, or grilled burgers with a bag of chips, hot dogs...or stage the ice cream truck in the lot for a drive by treat.  Set up a few tables for those who may want to park, visit for a bit and then get on their way.

We plan to try out some of these ideas next summer--your comments and suggestions welcome!

Yes Jeff, hope to do one or two of these next summer. Also thinking of hosting a client appreciation party in conjunction with my neighborhood art fair.

I enjoyed reading your ideas for summer for the entry for the contest. I especially liked the drive through dinner!  Not everyone is a swimmer -but who doesn't like a hot dog on a summer day while visiting with your agent! Love this.

Mary Hutchison, SRES, ABR - These are great ideas for Midwesterners! I was born in the Midwest (Chicago) so I completely understand the stifling heat and how refreshing a spray or tub of water outdoors could be. We even turned on the Fire Hydrants! The drive-in Hot Dog stand for dinner was the best!!! Our office is very COOL!

Hi Mary,  Thanks for sharing these awesome ideas.   I really like the drive up dinner idea - no one wants to cook when it's so hot.

I like the "rent a pool" idea.  That would be fun to have a private pool party.

Yes that is a favorite--however, I won't be in a swimsuit!

Being from Wichita, I totally get your heat/humidity claim!  I love the idea of rentng out a pool.  I bet it would be more expensive here in Scottsdale, but I'll have to check!  Happy Summer!

I love the idea of renting out the town pool - does the $300 include liability?

I am not sure--haven't done it nor read the 'fine print' -- would check that out before!

Oh, I may have to use the pool idea, Mary! I do have events for my clients every quarter. The problem this quarter is the humidity and we have it in a local park. So, I'm all about renting a pool where everyone can cool off!

All of them are wonderful ideas - that one just struck a chord with me. Thank you for sharing!
