Thanks to human kindness from thousands of years ago dogs were tamed to become an accepted part of society. Their uncanny superiority of the senses makes them lovable and valuable to man, woman, child and isn't it interesting, they have the ability to foster and care for newly born kittens, chickens, and other animals including tenderly guarding a newborn infant into the family. Also, isn't it wonderful that Service Dogs are making a difference when it comes to health and well being in areas of medicine, such as mental, physical, and other disabilities? Flower Mound acknowledges their intelligence and unconditional love.
Dogs in paradise affectionately named as The Hound Mound at Heritage Park was created for the benefit of the residential dogs of Flower Mound, TX. The dedication occurred on January 2016. Something the town is very proud of are the pet owners who adopt pets from the animal shelters. When dogs are properly fostered and cared for they make great members of the community and companions for life. The Hound Mound was unanimously approved, planned, designed, and implemented on schedule for the benefit of the residential dogs and their owners. Our Town's 5-acre dog park is located on the east side of Heritage Park located at 1202 Garden Ridge Blvd. in Flower Mound.
Amenities were planned and approved by Town Council to keep the Hound Mound an exceptional place where dogs can enjoy the good life include the following:
- Hybrid Bermuda Turf
- Natural Shade Trees
- Separate Areas for Little Ones and Big Dogs
- Pet Waste Stations
- Seating Areas With Water Fountains
- Irrigation System
- Trash Receptacles
- Landscaping
- 40 Lighted & Video Monitored Parking Spaces.
Socialized training is important for dogs to become a member of the community. Dog owners who believe that dogs are family members will appreciate the off-leash area specifically designed for pet owners and their dogs to interact and get to know one another. Puppies have a chance to romp and play, learn new tricks, exercise, and get plenty of loving and attention. Whether a dog is young or old or somewhere in between, they can all benefit in Hound Mound Paradise.
The park is open every day from 7 a.m. to dusk except Wednesday for weekly general maintenance. The Town of Flower Mound is dedicated to keeping the Hound Mound fresh and clean by the order of the Director of Parks and Recreation. It is also closed when inclement weather or dangerous conditions are necessary for the protection of the dog residents of Flower Mound.
"I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional
love. For me, they are the role model for being alive.
