The Face of Business or Alone and Crying, Crying, Crying, Crying...
Mike Cooper posted a video on Facebook regarding a woman who misspelled the word hamster - making it hampster. In a conversation with her boss, she adamantly insisted it was correct and once proved wrong, still refused to accept that, leading to a crying jag. After texting her mom for support at work, she turned on the speaker phone when her mom called, asking her to call the boss and tell her to stop being mean!
Which reminds me of a recent experience...
I stopped in to get approval for a cookie coupon design (for a mailer to clients) by the owner of a business. He was gone when I arrived at 5:00pm. The two young women behind the counter were very reluctant to make a call to the owner. One woman started crying loudly saying how she was going to get in trouble and be yelled at for calling the boss after hours and walked off.
The other woman said I was too demanding and shouldn't have made her cry... What?! Employers need to realize that these people are the face of their business and need to be aware of who they are hiring to service the public. A simple request turned into a very unsavory environment. It WAS one of my favorite places to get lunch. It is so awkward to go there now!
Remember: You are the face of your business and your behavior may determine more or less business. Someone needs to be level-headed and the voice of reason or you could be left alone and crying, crying, crying, crying...
