Albert Crocker was born back in 1882. I could not find out any information as to his education, parents etc., however for this post that isn’t necessary so let’s get to it.
He graduated from the Armour Institute in Illinois graduating with an engineering degree. After graduation, he worked for the Aurora Automatic Machine Company with the motorcycle division engineering new products. He raced motorcycles winning most of the times he raced. It was during his racing year that he met Oscar Henstrom, the chief engineer and president of Indian Motorcycle of Springfield Massachusetts.
He invented the Crocker 30-50 cu in single-cylinder speedway bike. In the mid 1930’s he produced a high-performance overhead valve, v-twin motorcycle. It was so popular he could not keep up with demand. He died in 1961.
What you may not know about Albert is that his motorcycles are highly prized as the fastest production motorcycles so far in history. If you can find one, you’ll need to dig deep as most of them are over $200,000.00 in price. A restored one will range from $225,000.00 to $300,000.00. now, get up and go shopping, you just never know what you’ll find at an estate or garage sale.
