Motivational Monday...Staying Young
When I moved back to Houston, I finally had the pleasure of meeting my friend’s mother who had just turned 100 years young.
Cretora could run circles around most of us. After having lunch with her and my friend/her daughter, she told us her schedule for the remainder of the day.
Whew! She had a board meeting for the facility she lives in, another meeting for the entertainment panel that she chairs, bingo, and her book club meeting...all before dinner!
Before her birthday she was in a fashion show that her home had! Everyone at Chico’s knows her! She is always reading or painting when she is not out and about running errands with her daughter.
Her son-in-law is no slouch either. Ron is 75ish and drives about 2 hours each way twice a week to volunteer at the prison there as a chaplain.
One of our members here continues to work for her team handling all of the marketing for them. She continues to work out and mentors others so that they can enjoy the healthy lifestyle she now has. (You know who I’m talking about!!! BT)
I’ll be hitting a certain number this year that hardly seems possible for me because I feel at least 25-30 years younger. Most of us here by virtue of the fact that we’re here doing what we do are, in my mind, way ahead of the staying young game.
Find a reason to get up...get out and do...exercise your muscles and that includes the one in your head...smile and laugh every day...have people in your life.
There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age. Sophia Loren
