Yes, I finally got around to it...posting a new photo...that is.  Really, the old ones was not that old (well as  Onslow County Home Specialist Planning real estate agents' pictures go...LOL!), it was taken in 2006. (And BTW, a couple of people have asked about the hand on my shoulder, the photo was of my little one and me, I cropped it to use here)

Today after posting the new photo I started thinking about how very important it is to keep our information and photos current.

Because......

  • I want to be recognized - If someone reads my blog and sees my picture online, when and if I meet them; I want them to know it is ME, Cynthia Tilghman, Onslow County Home Specialist.  I definitely do not want them thinking "is that the same lady whose blog I've been reading, sure does not look like her".  I want them to feel like they already know me and that they can talk to me.
  • I want  consumers to be able to reach me - By telephone, email, snail mail or at my office.  That's pretty much a no brainer, I better make darn sure all those phone numbers and addresses are correct and visible on my website, blogs, emails and business cards.

Last,  but perhaps the most important

These are some of the ways I plan to make sure  all my information is current and available to the Consumer, what will you do?

Cynthia,

I agree totally! :-))  I handed my business card to a potential client one day and they looked at it and looked back at me and said "It Really Is You".  I'm thinking who were you expecting?

Cynthia, You new photo is absolutely lovely!  I didn't notice the hand until you pointed it out.  I know it's well past time to update mine and I plan on it very soon...but I have to say your area certainly agrees with you :)

Cynthia - Great new photo!  You actually look younger in this one to me.  I have updated mine a couple of times, but I might change to a "non sunglasses" look at some point.

Great points, Cynthia!

And WOWSA on the picture!  That's awesome!

This one makes you look more approachable.  The other one was more formal and stand-offish.  Go get 'em!

Hi Don,
Could it be because some agents used 20+ year old photos?  Hmmmm.  Thanks.

Cynthia, When I logged on I looked at my blog roll and went - who the heck is that! lol! I do like the new photo because it is more close up. I liked the other too because it made you look so approachable. I agree with all you have said and I love your lay out here! My photo is just a year old and I might change it this summer - I want to go with something fun. Good job! I know you are the local expert!

Hi Patricia,
So why do we procrastinate?  I know agents who have not changed the picture they use in their marketing for 10+ years.

Hello Carole,
Yes, when you love where you live, I think it shows.  I had been planning to change my photo for a while but just kept putting it off.  You'll get yours done.

Neal,
When I make a change, I make a change.  LOL!

Jason,
A photo of you with no sunglasses?  Would anyone recognize you?  We'll be watching.

Hi Cynthia,

Well said and I couldn't agree with you more. At times it's not easy keeping up with everything that needs to be updated!

I kept putting off a new photo until I lost a few lbs, but then I figured what the heck. That day I took mine myself in the office, it works for me at this point. YOUR photo looks great, very natural, friendly and approachable.

Have you ever met an agent and they look nothing like there photo. Maybe it's 20 yrs old.  That should be a crime.

Cynthia - I also agree that the new photo looks great.  Most of all, you do a fantastic job writing about your area and the consumer should have no problem identifying you as the local expert.  Congratulation you achieved your goal.

Hi Carol,
Thank you, I never thought about the other photo making me appear standoffish....you should have told me sooner!  :0)

Jo,
Really?  We do get accustomed to our buddie's pics here that we see so often.  It was time for a change, glad I did it.

Hello Joni,
So you couldn't see me in the other one?  Close ups are a little scary.  LOL!   Thank you.

Cynthia, love the new photo!! You look younger. (Every woman loves to hear that!) I liked your other photo, but it was so formal. This is more natural and friendlier! Of course, I like you either way!

I've updated my picture from Christmas parties. Last year and the year before....only for special occasions I wear my hair down...and the rest of the time keeping it out of my face in a ponytail. Other than that...a little photoshop to soften and good to go!  Some people think we have to put up a picture like first getting out of bed or something. I think that I don't want to scare people away before they meet me LOL

I love your new picture, and like your format on this post. It's you :)

Cynthia, I love your picture but I particularly love knowing that the  hand is that of your daughter. It has a deeper meaning to me. I see it as a form of pride and support from you own personal angel. Best wishes in all you do.

Steven,
Oh yes I have!  In fact, right after I started in this business I had an appointment with an agent in a nearby town and did not recognize her when she arrived.  It was the first time we had met and I "knew her from her photos', they were not current to say the least .  I know my face gave away my astonishment when she introduced herself.

Hello Tracy,
Thank you and you keep everybody straight in the Triad!

Good evening Jennifer,
I should have changed my pic long ago judging from the positive feedback!  Thanks, I really appreciate it.

Linda,
Wow, love that!  And I like you too, my friend.

Hi Missy,
I'll look forward to hearing from you.  Glad to know you've made it back home safely.

Hello Darleen,
Wouldn't it be a shame to have someone that had been reading your blog not recognize you?  I would hate that.  Thank you.

Cynthia:  I do not know what your old picture looked like, but the new one is very nice.  Enjoyed reading all the information you provided.  New comers to the area will be grateful and full of knowledge of the area.  Great idea linking all your articles in one place "one stop reading".  You might want to look at posting this in the group recommended reading list : http://activerain.com/groups/RRL .  Keep up the great work and postings.
