Not So Wordless Wednesday: Cultivated Oyster Mushrooms!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Napa Consultants DRE00893924

These are a clump of beautiful oyster mushrooms.  They are being cultivated by our Papaya Man (his specialty is papayas and bananas).  Because he has space in his greenhouse, he has added mushrooms to his repertoire... We love getting these, and quickly sautéeing them with a touch of butter and a hint of garlic.

Pleurotus ostreatus, the pearl oyster mushroom or tree oyster mushroom, is a common edible mushroom. It was first cultivated in Germany as a subsistence measure during World War I and is now grown commercially around the world for food. It is related to the similarly cultivated king oyster mushroom. Oh wow, Alexandra... if you hadn't said upfront they were mushrooms and I just saw the picture, I'd have guessed these were some unusual flowers.

Those are cool looking mushrooms.  They look delicate. I bet you they are very tasty. I would have never guessed that they were mushrooms.  New delights from California and the Seigels.

Morning Alexandra

While I love mushrooms, I don't recall having one of those in my memory bank.   Of course my memory bank is shrinking

Kevin J. May love the song, and you are right as far as timing.  You reminded me of a book where the hero knew the timing of cooking foie gras.  He sang the Marseillaise, and turned the foie gras in the middle of the song, and knew it was done at the end of the song.  I tried it and it works.  A

I would have loved to hear your recording although Ron can have my portion of the foie gras I no longer indulge. Vive la France!
