How many of you are trying to sell an empty home?  A house that has been sitting a while becomes stagnant and no matter how beautiful it is, the energy just doesn't feel right.

In Tibet the monks use a gong or a singing bowl to cleanse the energy.  I would suggest a grandfather clock.  They can be rented, and are not easily hauled off by thieves.  Set it so that its pendulum is moving and the chimes sound every fifteen minutes.  Some have a night shut off, so if it seems to be too loud and echoing in the empty house during the day, set it to go only at night.  It will still clear the energy without anyone being concerned with the echo.  Place it as near to the center of the house as possible.

With the movement of the pendulum and the metal sound of the chimes the house will no longer feel stagnant, and it will sell quicker.

Interesting concept.  Not something I would try however.  If it is so heavy that theives can't take it how would I move it.  I prefer simple staging with plates, towels. a few pieces of furniture, nic nacs around the home to give it a more warm feeling.

Like the idea. Seems kind of an expensive one though and labor-intensive as in you need to hire a moving company. Anything less expensive and HEAVY?

Monica- This is a really cool idea- But I do not know how practical a grandfather clock would be- would an anniversary clock work or would that be too small. Thank you

Rental companies will deliver and pick up the clocks.  Anything smaller would be easily lifted by thieves.

Very interesting concept I like that very much. Just curious what is in your picture. It looks like a roulete wheel? But I figured that couldnt be it.

Very interesting idea. Would you stage the home also- or just put in the grandfather clock? It is always fun to hear ideas.

Interesting idea and one I had never considered.  I would guess that the grandfather clock also adds warmth.

It's a luopan---a chinese feng shui compass.  Master Yu sells them on his website.  They're pretty cool, with markings in chinese and hexagrams.

Great Idea!  I have two vacant listings at the moment and with the market slow, I am looking for options.  I will try this one and see what happens!  Thanks!

I think you could just do the clock...it's the sound and movement of the pendulum that cures.  But, if you did it with the staging as well, it seems it should be even better.  I guess it depends on your budget.

Good Idea, yup we need something to fill those hollow spaces and give them that warm feeling.

Take care!

I love that idea!  The clock would provide a strong presence in a vacant home and "purify" the air.  I think that is the concept behind windchimes.  They say, music washes the soul.

In some of my vacant listings, I have brought a big vase decorated with white cherubs and large green foliage and white flowers to greet customers as they enter.  It's elegant yet cheerful.

Lighting is key!  The blinds have to be moved to capture light during the day.  At night, putting on lights is essential.  Put an afgan over a chair.  Candles in each room, but don't forget to put them all out before you leave.  The house should be clean, but lived in.  Forget the smell of cookies and try a nice soup, instead. Rent until it sells.

I like the soup idea.  A big pot  of veggie soup smells great to most people!  The vegans won't be insulted either!
