Matthews Alive Festival 2019: Labor Day Weekend
Labor Day Weekend is just a few days away and if you've lived in the Charlotte area for any period of time, you know it's almost time for the Matthews Alive Festival 2019. Starting Friday, August 30th through Labor Day, September 2nd, you'll not only have a ton of fun at the Matthews Alive Festival, you'll be helping the Town of Matthews contribute to local non-profit organizations. 100% of the proceeds from the festival go to local non-profits, living up to the festival's "motto" of: "good times funding good works."
A true Labor Day Weekend tradition in the Charlotte metro area, 2019 is the 27th year of the Matthews Alive Festival and it's going stronger than ever with over 150,000 people expected to attend. Over the past 26 years, $1.6+ million have been contributed to the local community by the Town of Matthews from funds raised by this festival.
What can Matthews Alive Festival visitors expect to find at the festival?
- 150+ arts and crafts vendors
- 25+ food vendors
- Labor Day Parade (one of the largest in the Southeast with 100+ participants) on Saturday, August 31st at 9:30 am. The parade lasts about 1-1/2 hours.
- Arts & Crafts Pavilion (opens at 10:00 am on Saturday)
- Tons of games and rides for kids and adults alike
- Petting zoo, train rides, butterfly exhibit
- Shag dancing to Carolina beach music on Friday
- Pop-rock music on Saturday
- Country music and jazz on Sunday
- Blue Grass music all day Monday

Festival Hours: Friday- 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Saturday - 10:00 am - 10:00 pm
Sunday - 1:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Monday - 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Admission: Free. Ride tickets: $1 for 1 ticket & $20 for a sheet of 25 tickets (cash only). Friday night you can buy a $15-All-You-Can-Ride wristband.
Where: Historic Downtown Matthews (at the corner of John & Trade Streets)
Please note that pets are not allowed at the Festival unless they are service animals. No alcohol permitted on festival grounds.
