Everything Is Better In the RAIN

"Love many things, for therein lies the true strength,

and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much,

and what is done in love is done well.  ---Vincent Van Gogh

Whether it is raining outside or writing in the RAIN it is cleansing of the mind with an opportunity to express whatever the heart desires in hopes someone is moved by the words, photograph, or an inspiration.

It is easy to withdraw to an uninterrupted space while raindrops fall splashing or dancing in the pond or on the window pane. Rain can give us balance from a world rushing outdoors to beat the time to arrive at some other destination.

Rain fertilizes the earth when dry or puts out fires. If it rains too much, there can be destruction or losses. Therefore when it rains, it is a good opportunity to reflect, think deeply, and refresh the brain of things that are not really that important.

To quote syaelmore Ayvior, "You can dance in the storm. Don't wait for the storm to be over because it might take too long. You can do it now. Wherever you are, right now, this very minute."

Isn't it funny how even when it isn't raining people make a living by putting out fires and when it's done too frequently there can also be loss and destruction?

The best thing to do in the rain is to think about the ones you love, those people who give you the strength to do the things you love to do not because you have to but because you're not promised another day.

Good morning Patricia. It rained for me yesterday in many ways, both actually and figuratively. I missed a concert, had a couple of disappointments, and had a setback. Today is a new day.

We got some rain in my area last night, people were rejoicing!  I think the storm only lasted around a half hour at my house though.

Patricia the sound of rain can be very peaceful and relaxing, especially on a lazy day.

Oh, I LOVE listening to the rain - it is so soothing, even with the occasional bursts of thunder.

George Souto and Debe Maxwell, CRS - As a kid, my favorite thing to do on a rainy day was to sit on the front porch and listen to the raindrops fall down on top the red and white metal awning. The sound and the sight of raindrops is something I am drawn to and it is then I do my best problem-solving. Like a lightning bolt, ideas are generated in a flash!

I'm so glad to hear you enjoy it too!!!

Hi Patricia,  This is a very reflective post and I love the picture.  Rain is special, and to sit and just listen to the raindrops falling is renewing.  So, with that said, May it rain on you everyday! :) Hugs, dear friend!

Ricki Eichler McCallum - I find your words comforting to me this evening. I hope you are happy. The summer has gone by too quickly. I'll bet that where you are at the leaves are beginning to turn to vibrant colors of crimson and gold. It's so wonderful to hear from you, my dear friend!

Roy Kelley - I always enjoy your photographs. There's something about flowers that draws beauty into my soul. Flowers need water and sunshine to make them grow. People need flowers and people who bring sunshine into their lives to mature. It's the plant and human connection that makes us love Mother Nature and live in harmony.

In a distinct departure from her popular Sebastian St. Cyr mystery series, Harris tells a powerful story of war's destruction of property, people, hopes, and morals during the Civil War in Louisiana.

This is top-notch historical fiction, thoroughly researched and vividly presented, revealing the Civil War in all its brutality.

Thirteen-year-old Amrie St. Pierre lives with her mother on a farm near the Mississippi port town of St. Francisville. Her father and most local men are in the Confederate army fighting up north near Vicksburg.

The Union army comes upriver from New Orleans, burning, plundering, and pillaging-terrorizing citizens, punishing them for secession. Louisiana families suffer greatly from deprivation-little food, no medicine, sickness, and the constant threat of rape and murder.

Amrie, her mother, and Mahalia, another citizen, are assaulted by two Yankee soldiers, but the women kill both men and hide their bodies. They know Yankee retribution will be swift and harsh. After the soldiers' bodies are finally discovered, the whole town will be punished if the killers don't step forward. Amrie and her mother learn the strength of women united against cruelty and oppression. This is an excellent story, full of suspense and historical detail.

Roy Kelley and Dolores - thank you for the recommendation. It sounds like a cliff hanger and a good mystery book! A really good mystery book begins when the author creates a unique story and the reader thinks as a historian based upon the authors research cleverly outlined.

Thank you!!!

Kris Collis - I like that thought you shared about the rain. The rain that keeps us indoors is the glue that keeps us focused on what we can't run away from. To achieve productive growth discipline is a must!

Thank you!!!
