Palos Verdes Library District’s 2019 Annual Community Art Show

Each Fall, the Palos Verdes Library District’s Annual Community Art Show invites both professional and amateur local artists to participate.  Artists of all ages within the community can exhibit their work throughout the entire library creating a heavily trafficked accessible platform.  The exhibit and its opening reception is highly anticipated by the patrons and artists, allowing them to connect in a fun and welcoming atmosphere.  Applications for the 2019 series opens on September 1, 2019, and are accepted through September 30, 2019.

The 2019 Community Art Show Calendar schedule is:

September 1, 2019 – Applications open

September 30, 2019- Applications are due

October 14, 2019 – Artists are notified if their pieces have been selected for the show

October 15 – 30th, 2019 – Drop off art work from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Administration Office

November 16, 2019 – Exhibition opening and reception from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

December 31, 2019 –  Exhibition closes

January 6 – 11, 2020 – Pick up artwork from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Administration Office.

Participants must be 14 years of age, or in the 9th grade.  Artists are able to work in all media.  The general participation fee is $10 per entry and participants may submit up to 3 pieces.  Students grades 9 – 12, are only $5 per entry and may submit up to 3 pieces.  Submissions will be accepted via online form or via paper forms available in the library only.  Entry fees may be paid online with credit card or checks may be made payable to: Palos Verdes Library District.  The awards for the showing areFirst place: $200, Second: $100, Third: $50, and recognition for Honorable Mention categories.  A “People’s Choice” winner will also be awarded.
