MDN 6 days a week

I've bragged about what a fine newspaper Minot ND has ever since I moved here and nothing will change that opinion (unless they switch to a liberal slant) BUT I'm really bummed with the announcement that starting Saturday 09/06/2019 they will no longer be a 7 day a week news source.

The Sunday paper has always been a big part of my Sunday morning. As an early riser (5:50 am 7 days a week) it's a great way to prepare for coffee conversation at church. The Sunday paper sets my agenda for "Daddy Disneyland" as my daughter likes to call Menards & HomeDepot as well as any electronics I see advertised that I don't think I can live without.

Oh well. Look for a more active me on Active Rain now every Sunday between 6:00 am and 7:45 am as I need to fill that time spot with something somewhat productive now that I won't have the paper to read.

Sorry for your loss, Bob! Of course, I haven't looked at our local paper for years. Every so often my husband leaves me a cut-out and I usually tell him I already knew that piece of news days ago or already blogged about it myself. My husband also gets the Sunday NY Times... I went on strike vis-a-vis that paper years ago and don't reac it either. I'm sure we'll be happy to see more of you here in the Rain now.

Thank you Wayne Martin . There is no doubt that this is where I will be spending that time lost on the paper. As to if it's a gain for others in the rain may be questionable .

Good morning, Bob - I imagine that Saturday readership and advertising may increase with the elimination of Sunday.  It's rather sad in some way how newspapers are slowly and quickly folding in cities/communities. I like your daughter's view of "Daddy Disneyland".

Thanks Nina Hollander . The Minot Daily (almost daily) is very conservative unlike the NY Times or I would not be hooked on it but on the bright side now I will have more time on Sunday to pray about my BARFF and how thankful I am for her .

Bob, very sad. I love to hold a newspaper! That said,I am guilty of contributing to  the demise of daily paper copies of newspapers. I subscribe to 7 papers on line. I just love having them all available on my iPad!

We are seeing this more and more..newspaper sales are down and many read on line. My dad always read the paper while drinking his coffee and having breakfast.  Glad we will see more of you in the Rain..our gain..their loss!!

I love being informed as well Tom Bailey and I had not thought about subscribing to a paper on line. Now I will have to consider either the Bismarck Tribune or the Fargo Fourm.

BTW studies show that people reading actual print retain much more of what they read as opposed to reading the same information on line.

Thanks Michael Jacobs . Tina's description of my love for hardware stores is pretty accurate but I'm not sure I could spend an entire weekend at Menards... they would have to have an in-house Burger King for that to work.
