Planes, Trains and Automobiles!

  PADDLE POWER

So the news on travel is not sounding too good. We are looking at the airlines cutting flights by 20% to the islands to save fuel and to get rid of gas guzzler planes.  This is going to impact the tourist industry and it will ripple down through out the state. I have seen better fares flying to Paris than to the islands.

 WIND POWER

Today oil prices made a major leap to record highs. Just when they were saying it was going to level out and maybe drop down. So all of a sudden our travel options are becoming slimmer and so are our wallets. It seems speculators are also driving oil prices up and with the devalued dollar it inflates oil prices.

Okay this is starting to piss me off. One good thing is we can take our frustration out at the polls in November. I hope that the debates with McCain and Obama will be talking about using our own natural resources.  We have coal, oil in the ground and France is using Nuclear power. You think they would have been working on this problem 10 years ago. So I am looking for candidates who will get tough and resourceful and make some needed changes. Enough talk we need action and real change in this country. So my other option is I am going to look at the trains when I travel.  A little slower, less driving and  nice views.

I completely agree that we need to explore our OWN natural resources and stop being dependent upon others.

AMEN, and WE as citizen need to start taking a stand. This country is NOT reflective of the country that was founded here. We are like lambs led to slaughter; we are told to "go to school"  "get a job"  "open a savings acct" "work for THE MAN"  "save for the future"  GUESS WHAT MY FRIENDS; it IS THE FUTURE and look where we are at!  We need to take back control of this country that is OURS!!!!!!!!!!!  Remember:?  WE HAVE POWER WE HAVE FORGOTTEN HOW TO USE IT    We vote these people into the "management positions" they are in??????????  WE HAVE THE POWER to get rid of them??????????  What are we waiting for????  $10.00 a gallon for gas?  No secrets here....its right around the corner!!!

Hi Steven,
I know I am rethinking my driving habits and being very careful to plan my miles.  There is a point at which the American public is going to say "enough", but what is the point?

We're jumping on our motorcycle today to show property (I'm a back seat driver only).  I have signs and lock boxes to pick up along the way, so we're taking the trailer.  I know we have had a cushy ride with real estate for several years and the price of gas is only making us reorganize our lives.  The people I worry about are the ones that are having trouble paying to get to work already.  Buying homes close to work will become a habit for many.

Hey Steve..I've noticed lately that the Economy keeps creeping into many posts on AR...It is definately affecting all segments of what we do...more than many other professions!

Frankly...it's all becoming overwhelming!  My husband and I are getting close to Retirement and we have resigned ourselves to the fact that it's not going to happen...

Hi Joan,

You know what I am going to be one of those old realtors that can't hear or see but are still working. One thing about real estate we can work into our old age.

Well, you know Steven, I feel the same way. I fear that no one man in office could do anything to break up the massive cartels in the oil business. They have too much money riding on the "need" of the public for the fuel. There are other options that we could have been using for many years just like you said but we will not see it happen till our earth is nearly depleated and it's all for the mighty dollar. I'm ticked off too!
