When I'm not busy selling houses in San Jose, Cupertino and Santa Clara, Calif., I love learning new facts. Here are three fun facts from this date in history, September 12, courtesy of Wikipedia.
1919 –
Adolf Hitler joins the German Workers' Party. (This organization wiould later become the Nazi Party).
1933 – While waiting for a red light on Southampton Row in Bloomsbury, physicist and inventor Leó Szilárd conceives the idea of the nuclear chain reaction.
1940 – Four teenagers stumble upon a treasure trove of cave paintings in Lascaux, France. These examples of Upper Paleolithic art are primarily of large animals and are estimated to be about 17,300 years old. In 1979, Lascaux was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
