What's in YOUR Smoothie?
About a decade ago, we started preparing fruit and juice smoothies in the morning. At first, we would use store-bought juices (not good, too much sugar) but then we began juicing our own fruit and vegetable juices. What a difference that made! We have enjoyed this ritual ever since and reap the health benefits - that has been showing up in lower bad cholesterol counts.
On this day, I juiced carrots, ginger, pears, and oranges. Along with one of my favorite juice combinations, we use one bag of frozen fruit. (I know, lazy but we only have so much time in the mornings...we work!)
In addition, our smoothies always have about 1/2 cup of low-fat yogurt, local honey, chia seeds, hemp seeds, a splash of apple cider vinegar and a banana. I know we are not the only ones who perform this ritual which begs the question, what's in YOUR smoothie?
