What's in YOUR Smoothie?

About a decade ago, we started preparing fruit and juice smoothies in the morning. At first, we would use store-bought juices (not good, too much sugar) but then we began juicing our own fruit and vegetable juices. What a difference that made!  We have enjoyed this ritual ever since and reap the health benefits - that has been showing up in lower bad cholesterol counts.

On this day, I juiced carrots, ginger, pears, and oranges. Along with one of my favorite juiceimage of shake stuff combinations, we use one bag of frozen fruit. (I know, lazy but we only have so much time in the mornings...we work!)

In addition, our smoothies always have about 1/2 cup of low-fat yogurt, local honey, chia seeds, hemp seeds, a splash of apple cider vinegar and a banana. I know we are not the only ones who perform this ritual which begs the question, what's in YOUR smoothie?

Hi Jeffrey - fresh and nutritious works.  Definitely not store-bought.

Hey Jeff now I'll be calling your Mr Healthy!  I used to do fresh juices and smoothies for years. Until.....one year I had a gigantic bag of organic carrots. I swear I've never ever been able to drink carrot juice since. Ugh.  Other stuff - sure!!

LOL. Thanks, Anna Banana Kruchten CRB, CRS 602-380-4886 I've been called many things but Mr. Healthy was never one of them. But, I'll take it. I can not drink straight carrot juice either but if I have the juice of at least one orange, I'm good.

Hi Jeff,
I've never gotten into the smoothie routine but I don't drink store bought juice either... like you say, too much sugar.

Carol Williams - If it was just me, I doubt I would have the motivation to prepare everything by myself every day. Since we take turns it doesn't seem like too much.

Hi Jeff, It's been a while since we made them a regular part of our morning.  Thanks for the reminder to get back in the habit.  My favorite was fresh strawberries, oranges, cranberries and a banana.

Hi Jeff- Larry I used to make smoothies every day. We included protein hemp powder, coconut water, fresh fruit if it was available or frozen. Loved putting in mangos and pineapples.
