According to the Community Impact newspaper, the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation recently hired an outside consultant to determine which retail businesses would be the "most likely to succeed" in this area.

The results were not surprising to me as a 13-year resident of the area.  A number of restaurants made the list, along with some higher-end shopping destinations.  When the toll roads opened here about 18 months ago, it made our commute time much easier to all of our favorite places.  It also made the area highly desirable for retailers.

Here is the list of stores deemed to be the best fit for Pflugerville currently based on the study:

  • Borders Books
  • Central Market
  • Souper Salad
  • Babies R Us
  • My Gym
  • Rockfish Seafood Grill
  • Macaroni Grill
  • Saltgrass Steakhouse
  • Rooms to Go
  • Costco
  • On the Border
  • Mimi's Cafe
  • Chipotle
  • DSW Shoe Warehouse
  • Ann Taylor
  • Jared Galleria of Jewelry
  • Kohl's
  • Carter's
  • BJ's Restaurant
  • Home Goods

In other immediate area commercial development news:

Recently, Home Depot opened its doors (May 8th), and it is the first of many stores and restaurants which will occupy Stone Hill Town Center, on the southwest corner of the two toll roads, 45 and 130. The center promises over 1,000,000 square feet of shopping and entertainment.

Best Buy, Chili's, several retail clothing stores, a large Cinemark theater, and 24-Hour Fitness are all included in the master plan there.  If you would like to see the proposed layout, you can visit the developer's website and see the site plan here:

It is amazing how fast Pflugerville has grown.  It used to be so small and now it doesn't even look the same.  Good place to be for sales!

Ricki - I certainly like to think of it as a terrific place for sales.  I have had quite a bit of success selling here.  I think we are now over 40,000 people.  In 1990, it was 4,000.

Holy mackerel, has this area grown.  Way back in the day there wasn't even a stop sign in town.  But then San Antonio didn't look like it does today.  I am so glad to see it growing.

Jason,
That's a good list of stores!  Sounds like this area is really growing.  That's good for Mr. Crouch, huh?

What a great group of shops! Auburn doesn't have a single one of them----yet! Maybe it will grow that big, too!

As a Pflugerville resident I can tell you that we NEED the stores/restaurants listed!  I sure hope we get them.  I live right down the street from the new Stone Hill shopping center that is going up and I can't wait for shops to open.  My husband and I are really hoping that due to the growing area it will drive up the value of our home.
