I have been thinking lately about whether or not we can call staging "green". In redesign we use the home owner's personal items to redecorate with. In staging we can rent furniture and also use the home owner's things. I have been thinking if it is a good idea to mention on my website that my company is green.

With all this talk about global warming I have seen a lot of things going green lately. For instance, I have seen green cleaning supplies, green cities, green cars, green paint, green homes, green clothes, green office supplies, green food, green paper, green bottles, green realtors, green banks, green credit cards, and green building supplies.

I was wondering if anyone else lists on their website that they are a green company. I know that some clients are looking for this and I have a vendor list that has some green companies on them. Like where they can buy low voc paint and where to get reused furniture. I also have green business cards that I made out of paint chips and an ink pad.

I use green cleaning supplies, green medication, green food, green paper, and have some green clothes. I even use green pet supplies. I try and buy fair trade goods when I can and even my coffee does not hurt the rain forests.

My question is how many underground green advocates are they on AR and how many of you mention it on your website? Stagers, are you going to or does it matter? Do you think it matters to your clients? Please let us know.

Yes, Staged-to-sell.com has gone green.  Good luck on that, I think it's the way of the future.

I have not "gone green" so to speak, not that I am against it. I don't see it being necessary here in Omaha to have a competitive edge, but I can see how it would be helpful in other markets.

I have been working green practices into all my design services. I highly suggest you mention it to clients as an option. Some people still are unsure about green design while others are very much into it. Go green can be something as easy as using lead free paint or fabrics that are green friendly. If you have further questions don't hestiate to contact me. We are all in this together right?! ;)

Going green is so hard.  I purchased these recyclable grocery bags, the problem is that I never remember to bring them into the store.  They are always in the trunk of my car so it shouldn't be that hard, but it is.  Then there is the guilt and shame on the car ride home. :(

I'm the same way. Our grocery store will take back its plastic bags and recycle them. I have a whole trunkful. You would think I would remember to drop them off when I go there. But I always forget until I open the trunk to get the groceries out.

You can start small by going green. We switched to green cleaning products and try and use green medicinal products like non latex bandages and pure, organic cotton swabs.

Going green doesnt necessarily mean you have to change every aspect of your staging process to be more eco-friendly. Of course it would be wonderful if you could! Personally this is a really big thing for me and naturally I am environmentally concious in almost everything I do (I'm even considering buying a water-burning conversion kit for my car! - inexpensive and will work on virtually any car). I dont post my "green-ness" on my website or anything (perhaps i should), but I do talk about environmental issues related to homeowners in my newsletters occasionally. It really is becoming more main-stream and people do feel better by being involved with green businesses...so I say go ahead and market yourself this way, it wont hurt at all, and you'll be helping the world :)
