Madeline Island Golf Club opens June 14th in La Pointe, Wisconsin

The Madeline Island Golf Club is gearing up for its opening day, June 14.

The course, designed by world-renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Sr., is in the process of being groomed and made ready for opening week. Resident PGA pro Jeff Obst will be available for lessons and golf clinics this season.

The course is located on Old Fort Road, across from the Madeline Island Marina and Yacht Club. You'll enjoy spectacular views of Lake Superior and the mainland from much of the course. Carts are available and there are occasional special prices and offerings which appear on the Golf Club website.

Wow! A new golf course. That's an expensive project and requires a lot of LAND. Trump got his walking papers in Westchester on that one!

Ruthmarie, our Madeline Island course is one where the back nine overlaps the front nine in some places. Efficient land use was an issue when Trent Jones designed it. I'm not a golfer myself, but most of my clients who play there tell me it's an interesting course.

That's really interesting. Double usage. i don't play golf, so I don't know how that would work in reality. I grew up next to a golf course. The only thing I could see as problem is golf balls going all over the place if you aren't careful - hitting someone on the head! We had them through the windows all the time.

Ruthmarie, some of the fairways criss-cross over others. Actually, I think it's great that they applied good land use principles to the construction of the course. Madeline Island is a very environmentally-conscious area. And the golf course is close to a historic zone, the site of an eighteenth-century French fort, so the placement of the Marina and Golf course had to be very carefully planned.
