Inspiration for Moving Under Difficult Circumstances

By
Real Estate Agent with DFW FINE PROPERTIES 0506509

Moving is nothing new. People have moved under the most stressful circumstances for many different reasons: 1) Job opportunities, 2) Divorce, 3) Death of a loved one, 4) A chance to have a better life, 5) Aging/Physical/Medical, 6) Personal/Family reasons.

"Be thou the rainbow in the storms of life. The evening beam that smiles

the clouds away, and tints tomorrow with prophetic ray." ---Lord Byron

No matter how old I am, clouds always stir up in me a longing, a sense of belonging. Clouds look different when you're in the air and you can breathe without distraction. Sometimes you have to move to begin to breathe all over again.

"Do you wish to rise? Begin by descending. You plan a tower that

will pierce the clouds? Lay first the foundation of humility."

---Saint Augustine

I never heard a child say, "When I grow up, I want to get married and get divorced." Nor did I ever hear someone say, "When I grow up, I want to be widowed." And I never heard a mother cry out loud she wished bad things for her children. Stuff happens. Some times you have to forgive. Other times the best thing to do is move away and start all over again.

"Clouds do not really look like camels or sailing ships or castles in the sky.

They are simply a natural process at work. So too, perhaps, are our lives."

---Roger Ebert

Being optimistic can help. You never know what you can have unless you shoot for the stars and learn how to soar. People don't have to earn a lot of money but they do need to have the means to eat, shelter, take care of their personal hygiene, have the best medical treatment when life makes others plans for our body, mind, and soul, and of course the means to survive. Although there may be great jobs in your own backyard, there may also come a time when times up, you need to make a change.

"I owned the world as I rode over it, free of the earth, free of the mountains,

free of the clouds, but how inseparable I was bound to them."

---Charles Lindbergh

Moving is an adventure. Perhaps you have a choice. Maybe not... In my opinion, nobody said it better than Henry David Thoreau:

"It is better to have your head in the clouds, and know where you are...

than to breathe the clearer atmosphere below them, and think

that you are in paradise."

Living in a world in which you feel stuck isn't fun. Isn't it time to find your fun and place in the sun where you can soar?  If you're thinking about moving to somewhere in Dallas Fort Worth, and you want to talk, let's talk. Or if you're needing to move somewhere else, there are Agents from every state here on ActiveRain. I can happily provide referrals.

There are so many ways one should be grateful that one has a place to live and I am truly grateful. However, I'n dreaming, planning and hoping to be able to move to an area close to the ocean eventually. Love the cloud quotes!

Hi Patricia:

What a beautifully written and sensitive post. Moving is tough...not doubt about it...and when there are life challenges that come with it or cause it, it can be even harder to navigate. I really enjoy helping those who are relocating...no matter what the reason! Just leaving friends, family and al that is familiar behind is emotional!!

I really like the selection of quote and beautiful photos.

I loved clouds when I was a kid.  Something magical about them.  Then, life got in the way!  ha.

Very poignant essay, Patricia, very nice! Thank you for pointing out the beauty in the world that is there to see if we only take a moment to look.

Kris Collis, Associate Broker - your comment is just perfect! I always appreciate hearing from you because I know you put thought into what you want to say which mirrors the message or subject matter.

Whenever I watched Siskel & ebert, I always sided with Roger Ebert because he chose his words wisely and they resonated with me. He was a very creative thinker, always kind, never rude. That's what I like about you too!

Have a nice day!

Eva B. Liland with Century 21 Doug Anderson - I hope you find your new home close to the ocean. What an exciting dream!!! We give so much or our time helping others to achieve their goals, it's easy to let our dreams slip by. I hope you hang on to your dream and what you want and need comes to fruition.

All the best to you! I'm glad you enjoyed my cloud photos - keep dreaming!!!

Roy Kelley - Thank you for noticing I put a lot of thought into what I write here on ActiveRain. There are as many beautiful cloud formations as there are flowers. Those cloud quotes seemed to resonate with many people. I'm glad you didn't miss them.

Have a wonderful day!!!

At Jeff Dowler, CRS - Something I noticed about your blog posts and what I confirmed about you when we met at Sell-A-Brations is that you are compassionate and sincere. I believe every word you write. This comment is no exception. Thank you!

Moving is very emotional. In addition to all the planning and unexpected events that always happens when people move, it takes a lot of courage and focus. It is also a very sensitive time in a person's life. As agents, we need to be cognizant of their feelings and what they are going through. That's why I don't miss a closing. But when I discover the other party is waiting to close and there is no agent, my heart sinks. To me, a closing isn't a closing unless I show up and make sure I am there to support my clients. I have a strong feeling you do too.

I'm very, very glad you're a member of ActiveRain with good moral principles and values. AR is better because of people like you!

John Henry - I think you are a wordsmith and you comment well too!

My curious mind wants to know, when you were a child, and kicked back to look at the clouds, were you building castles in the clouds?

Sep 24, 2019 10:52 AM
John Henry, Florida Architect

Ha, not building anything.  Clouds were wondrous things.  I tried to make out figures or objects, mountains, lions, birds, etc.  We had great clouds in South Dakota.  Dry air, blue skies.  I also liked dark clear nights with a full moon and clouds obscuring it on and off.  I was fascinated with the night and did at least one watercolor of a castle under moonlight.  I used a lot of black and blue paint!  Thanks very much! Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP

John Henry - I agree, clouds are "wondrous things!" When I look at clouds I usually see more people in the clouds than animals. Your description of night skies in SD sounds spectacular!!! I'll bet your painting turned out really beautiful. The way you described the dark sky reminds me of what I saw when I lived in Maine on the shores of Moose Pond in my little cabin without electricity. I would go outside and sit on the dock and saw the stars twinkling on Moose Pond with the brightest moon above. Sometimes, I'd take the kayak or canoe out after midnight and just lay down and stare up at the sky! The most beautiful nights occurred when the Aurora Borealis was producing the greatest show on earth!!! Those moments took my breath away!!!

Now, why am I in TX??? I'm working on bugging out as soon as I can!!!

Good morning, Patricia... as always a beautifully written inspirational post. And the quotes aren't too bad either!  Seriously, your comment that stuff happens in life is so true... and some of it we can't control... all we can control is how we respond to the stuff that happens... both good and bad.

What beautiful photos, quotes and words. Thank you for your thoughts. There are so many reasons for moving, sometimes good and sometimes not so good. Remaining optimistic and finding a compassionate agent to help can make the process so much better. Have a great day!

Great post Patricia!  I love the quotes!  All very meaningful and fitting for moving!  I love to be that little slice of rainbow for my clients, especially when they may be facing dire circumstances.  God knows people showed up in my life when I needed them.

As I was reading your post Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP I was imagining myself looking at the clouds in their many shapes and sizes, and I was reminded of the many different types of clouds ... and how quickly they can change.  Just like life. No man knows his day or hour that things can change ... for better or worse -- in a fleeting moment.  Your post really made me appreciate and be thankful for today and not to worry about tomorrow.
