With years of experience behind him, Landlord Man knows when to send in his trusty assistant instead of standing in the line of fire himself.  It's not just the tingly feeling that something is wrong, but the threatening phone calls really clued me in.

My trusty Aide, Landlord Boy was enlisted to help.  He is a 1099 consultant, has his own insurance and is expendable.  With a smile on his face, dampness still behind his little ears, he set off to do what no true experienced executive would....Walk through the shooting gallery while the CARNIVAL was in process. (also known as after 3pm)

Landlord Man was on other assignment this morning, but continued to wonder about the fate of Landlord Boy.  Calls to the office were not answered.  The local police have the EMERGENCY PHONE NUMBER to the red phone, so we were pretty sure that terrible things had not befallen the young lad.  Bad maybe.  I don't get the call for only bad things.

As I arrived to the office I am sure a smile was my face when LLBoy was on site and without any new holes in him.  "Boss" he said. "I've got pictures".

He is young and was at THE CARNIVAL.  Pictures of donkeys and thorn bushes ran through my head until I realized that we were still in Ohio.  Forgetting about my last Mexico trip for a moment, I asked to see the photos.

"It was a rough one out there" he recounts.  "As I posted the Notice, one of the guys hanging out in the parking lot raced over, tore it from the door and ran inside.  I didn't get a photo of him doing it, but if he claims it wasn't posted he's lying."

With this I grabbed the lad and spun him around shocking both he and Mrs. Landlord Man.  I am sure the boy was now thinking about HIS last Mexico vacation, but can't be sure.  Grabbing his head with one hand and the back of his ear with the other I lean in close and smile.  No more wetness.  I didn't figure there would be.  A rookie would have missed the photo.......
