Whether you’re home alone or have a few guests over, it’s almost impossible to predict when you’ll have to deal with a beer stain on your carpet. Spills are common and if you happen to stumble upon a beer stain, don’t panic. There are several home remedies you can try that are effective at removing beer stains. Here are a few tips on how to remove beer stains from carpet.
How to Remove Beer Stains from Carpet - Three Effective Methods
This post highlights how you can get beer stains out of your carpet. It’s a step by step guide that will help you revive your carpet to stay clean even after you run into an unexpected beer stain.
Method 1
- Start by soaking up as much of the beer stain as possible, as quickly as you can (A dry towel or paper towels will come in handy for this step). This will prevent the beer from being absorbed deeper into the carpet fibers.
- Combine one tbsp of liquid washing detergent and a tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of warm water.
- Soak a sponge in this solution and use it to blot the stained area. Be sure to avoid spreading the stain by working from the outside of the stain in. The stain should begin to disappear.
- To get rid of any remaining vinegar, use a sponge with cold water before pat drying with a clean towel.
Method 2
This method is also effective at keeping your carpet free of beer stains
- Use a clean towel to soak up any remaining liquid then sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda on the beer stain. Be sure to cover the entire surface of the stain.
- Let the baking soda sit on the stain for about 24 hours. This helps the baking soda to absorb any smell that may be left behind by the beer.
- Vacuum up the baking soda after 24 hours and the residue and stain should have disappeared.
Method 3
- Immediately you discover the stain, clean up as much of it as possible using a dry towel.
- Apply a carpet spray cleaner onto the affected area of the carpet.
- Let the solution sit for about 15 minutes and then dry the area with a clean towel
- Remove any remaining residue using a carpet cleaning machine or a vacuum.
- Spills are inevitable and as long as you have a carpet, you’re likely going to have to deal with one. Since carpets are made from different kinds of fabric, you want to avoid using any harsh chemicals that may damage the carpet fabric.
Bottom Line
So that’s it – a few simple tips on how to remove beer stains from carpet. If you’ve tried the methods mentioned and the stain is still present, you might want to repeat the process a few times until the stain is no longer visible. However, some stains can be pretty stubborn and will require the skills and experience of professional carpet cleaners.
