  • Hardwood Floors: Carpets are out, Hardwood is popular. 
  • Quartz Counter-Top: Although Granite is still being asked for, Quartz is gaining popularity.
  • Stainless Steel Appliances: Still very much in style. The newer darker tone is not as popular as the original smudge proof ones.
  • Neutral Paint Colors: Grey's are trending, but other shades will work too if they are light. Some buyers say they like an accent wall.
  • Curb Appeal: Landscaping should not be neglected.  Adding mulch helps, as well as power washing an entrance way and back patio.
  • Backyard Kitchen: It's not requested by all, but when one is already there, buyers are usually impressed with backyard kitchens. 
  • Home Automation: Many buyers want systems that can be controlled from their smart devices and are pleased when a home has these systems in place.

Besides the above, all age groups are asking for open floor plans. It highlights today's lifestyle with no formal dining room, and the kitchen and den being the gathering space. Walls are coming down...

Hello Sheila and Larry - Cleanliness matters.  And no smelly houses. Increasing values?   Hmm, it might be the difference between a home for sale that is being considered versus a home that is immediately eliminated.   I see value in that...I am sure prospective home sellers like that too.
