Mistakes Were Made

baseball momentosI grew up in the South, a bit of a nomad as my dad's job took him from construction site to construction site.  Finish a project and go to the next one.

Back in the day, there weren't many TV stations (ESPN wasn't even a thought in someone's brain yet), so TBS was the supplier of a kid's baseball games.  TBS brought me the Atlanta Braves with Hammerin' Hank, then Dale Murphy and eventually Chipper Jones, Greg Maddux, John Smoltz and Tom Glavine winning the World Series!

As the years went by the time I had for baseball games diminished, but I still follow my team, checking the scores and the box scores to see how my favorite players performed.  And I've lived in Cincinnati for almost 30 years, so I have a rooting interest in the Reds too, catching a lot of games on the radio as I'm driving around.

Today was one of those painful days to be a fan.  The Braves were absolutely demolished in the first inning of a critical Game 5 playoff series. It was win or stay home, and they're going to be staying home.  Mistakes were made in this game, and players that you can normally depend on weren't dependable today.  It happens.  Ultimately, it's just a game and doesn't really impact my day to day life.

But the one thing that is clear to me is that the opportunity was there.  Game 4 the Braves had a chance to put away the series, but didn't.

It's common in sports, a hindsight view of what could have been.  The almosts that nag at you.

Real estate isn't much different.

There's a lot of hindsight.

Would I have gotten the listing if I'd said X instead of Y?

What if I could have convinced my buyer that their offer needed to be just a little bit higher?

What if I'd started blogging sooner?

And once I started, what if I'd written more subdivision and long tail search pages?

But here's the good thing about real estate.  Unlike baseball, there's no off season.

Every day starts a new season.

Made a mistake yesterday?

Learn, adapt, succeed.

Hey batter, batter.....

Let's play ball :)

Hello Liz and Bill - there are abundant sports analogies that are applicable to real life and real estate.  Game over?  It's a mindset...

Retirement is the only time the real estate game ends for me.  Some day, but no time really soon.

Bill - that game was painful to watch and Larry and I watched it all. We watched as the Astros had the opportunity to put it away the other night against Tampa Bay and didn't but they did win yesterday (Thursday) 6-1 against Tampa Bay.

Now on to more nailbiting games!!! I can't take it!!!

Once my team(s) are out, I'm pretty much out.  I'll check the scores but not actually watch the games.
