If you did not know it is a separate municipality, you would think Sunny Isles Beach is part of Miami Beach. In fact, it has become a relatively long and high row of condos. With all the new construction, the coastline of Sunny Isles has been dramatically transformed. Geographically, it is just north of Haulover Park and Oleta Park to the West and just south of Golden Beach and Aventura.
I visited a number of buildings in Sunny Isles recently, and I was most impressed with three of the buildings, such as, Ocean Two, Trump Palace and Trump Tower.
Ocean Two has a quiet elegance that makes it feel like an older, more established building. The apartments there face both directly east towards the ocean and west towards the intra-coastal. Many of the units have flow-through designs providing residents with both views. The facilites are excellent with many amenities.
Trump Palace also offers excellent views. It feels like more of a resort hotel as it shares the facilities of the Trump Sonesta hotel, which is adjacent to the building. The most unusual feature is that the elevators have no floor numbers. The fob (electronic key) enables entry to the elevator and floors. The other obvious feature is the very tight security that is enforced by professionals from the guard gate to the front desk. The amenities, the four pools and the gym/spa are all impressive. It is an ideal place for a celebrity who seeks privacy and security to live.
Trump Tower was just recently completed and has started closings. The amenities are very impressive. The gym features the best equipment available and directly faces the ocean inspiring you to workout. The apartments have some nice floor plans and offer some of the best values for high-end luxury condos in Sunny Isles Beach. Most of the condos have direct or partial ocean views. The only floor plan I was not crazy about was the floor plan for the small two bedroom facing West. The bathrooms and kitchens were also very nice as they were done using the top brands as well as marble finishes in the bathrooms. Overall, it was a pleasant surprise. There are two more towers (buildings) to be completed - Trump Tower 2 and 3.
Overall, Sunny Isles continues to be transformed as some of the few remaining older buildings, stores and restaurants like the Rascal House, give way to a new look, more condos and a modernization of sorts, which is either good news or bad news depending on the building or area. Sunny Isles still retains a resort-like ambiance with a touch of the old style from the 50's and 60's when it was the center of attention.
