How Much are you willing to Pay for a Beer?

By

There is a new beer out - but will you be experiencing it?    Sam Adams has an extreme beer that just hit the market called Utopia.    It is to be the highest alcohol by volume at 28%, higher than the average beer which is usually around 10%.

If you cannot find it in your State, it may be because it is illegal in 15 states to include -  Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah, Vermont, and West Virginia.

This extraordinary beer will set you back about $210 per bottle for 24 ounces.

Is this a beer you will need to try?

Grant Schneider I will be looking forward to hearing how many will be willing to shell out that much for one beer.

Hello Joan - although it may be legal in California,  I have not seen/heard of it.  Beer-drinking has never been "my cup of tea".

Michael Jacobs I just saw it last night for the first time, and know it is legal in CO too.   I have a HALF bottle of wine that I paid $90 for, and will open when I want to celebrate.

Oh no, no, no, no, Joan! In my entire life I've had exactly one sip of beer when I was 18... hated it and have never repeated the experience. I wouldn't pay a penny for any beer!  Now if you'd like to discuss champagne....

If I am going to pay $210 for a bottle, it will not be beer.  :o)  Maybe a magnum or double magnum of a good wine so I can share with my friends.

Nina Hollander I knew you would say that, and I would echo that.  I have had maybe 5 beers in my entire life, and still don't like it.

That's pretty crazy for a beer, but it sounds more like beer brandy or something.  Not very interesting to me.

Joan, for $210 I could get drunk in multiple States. I think I will keep my money.

I doubt that I would be willing to pay that much for a beer, I am becoming more of a wine drinker anyways, haha.

Wow! I can't believe the price you will have to pay to enjoy this beer. You would have to really love beer to pay the price.

Hi Joan Cox I did read about this beer a few days ago.  I do like a good beer but that's a bit more than I want to pay. (Ok, a LOT more)

Jim Patton I think all the beer lovers agreed with you.   Only those with LOTS of money will partake, I would think.
