I would like to thank everyone that has made comments on my 1st post. I have been reading all of the comments and several blogs that others have posted. I have been much more comfortable reading all the blogs and digesting the information that is out here on AR, than I am with posting. Many of the blogs that I have been reading have given me information that has proved to be very helpful in many areas of my real estate business. I have been concentrating on updating my website and trying to understand how to implement this SEO gobbly goop. The more I read about SEO the more confused I get. If anyone could give me a push in the direction of UNDERSTANDING how SEO works and how to bring my website up in the search engines, please let me know. My website is

www.brookingshometeam.com   if any would like to take a look and let me know how to make changes that will prove helpful, I would really appreciate it. I have been spending every night until late, late, late, working on this website and I have seen no improvement when I search for myself. So, my conclusion is that I am doing something wrong, or that I may not know what I am doing right. Anyway, thanks for any help you could give me.

Hiya Lisa! One thing you can do right off the bat is to have your webmaster insert an RSS feed to your ActiveRain blog link into your website. It gives you some automatic points and would allow visitors to your website to access your ActiveRain blog posts. On the bottom left of your "My Home" page is a link that says "Link to your Website." Let me know if you need any further help.

The site looks nice.  Now that you have it up and running you need to concentrate on SEO.  There are a lot of good posts here about it.  "If you optimize and index they will come."

This has some good basic SEO tips.

Good luck!

Hi Rich. Thanks for the info. I did put a link to ActiveRain on my website, but it only links out to the AR homepage and not to my blogs. I do not have a "webmaster", I am doing all the work on my website myself. Should I try and change my link so it goes to my own Home Page on ActiveRain?

Hi Lisa!

SEO (search engine optimization) is very simple with proper instruction - there are many myths out there about how to 'doop' the search engines to get to the top, but I can tell you in all of my websites it has come down to 1 basic Rule - Key Words within the content of your website page.

If you havent already go to my SEO for dummies post - Im sure this will help you without confusing you with a bunch of myths and not so accurate information.
