If you follow me on Facebook you know what to expect from me. Every day there will be a picture that is either nature or pet related. Mostly flowers from our garden with a scattering of our pets here and there.
Why? Because a long time ago I got tired of all the fighting on Facebook over things most of us have no control over. The name calling, the outright hate, I just don't want to give it room in my head. I'm still going to encounter it, but I won't be the host.
Those pictures serve more than one purpose. A few years ago a cousin (I think?) in Alabama reached out to me about using some of the pictures as notecards for a fundraiser for something far in my past.
It's a community center now, but once upon a time it was a Southern Baptist church that my grandmother attended, and my family for a short time between moves. It was way back in my kindergarten time, and it was your traditional old church with the graveyard out back. Hard wooden pews, no AC so you fanned ourself with the little cardboard hand fans on a stick, and a service that you never knew when it would end. But those socials and reunions on the concrete tables behind the church! Red velvet cake, banana pudding, lemon pies....okay, they served REGULAR food too!!!
So when she asked, I said yes. I poked around a bit and settled on using Shutterfly to make sets of 12 notecards (a different picture on each one). I send them a few sets to sell and I make some more for Christmas gifts or other gifts.
The challenge for me? Sorting through 365 pictures and looking for THE 12 I'll use. It's subjective. I try to find a selection that covers the four seasons of the year, and there's a little memory in play too. Which pictures had more likes/comments? Today I squeezed 365 to 30, then 30 to 12.
The process? It's not all that different than househunting. You may start off with dozens to get to a few, then the few to THE ONE. Your one might not be my one, but it's THE ONE for you. And as your real estate agent, it's my role to help you find THE ONE, and then get it!
