War touches our lives on earth
Let's learn from the past and welcome home each and every one. As realtors we can work to help them in every way. Staying up on lenders that have programs for them. There are people losing homes, foreclosed right now who have had to leave to serve. Please advise us if you have some solutions.
This war- where women bar arms, they leave children home and serve overseas. It is too close to know what to say. Some quiet is helpful and with appreciation.
Ever notice that service people have a silent look, a little nod of acknowledgement when they meet each other?
Viet Naim I learned from my husband and cousin that insult to injury was the treatment of our military when they returned home. No ticker tape parade. Apple pie and family hugs were at our house in Dallas Texas when my cousin came home. I just wanted to be near him. I didn't know what to say. We walked in silence as he took job applications around and tried to find work. There was a profound distance for them as people avoided hiring them and treated them as offensive. It was a war no one understood or wanted and all to like the one we have now. Years later I understood the silence and quiet needed. My husband said the returning vets should get jobs in the National Forest. The trees and quiet could help heal them. If we understand anything it is to welcome them home together and forever. They returned home one at a time, alone from war.
My brother came back. He served 8 years in the airforce. The rest of his life he has been in a half way house in Tampa Florida. He is lost to this time and lives in a world of another time and makes lists of things from WWII. Some people are his friends he says. They come over and talk to him.
WWII the local men still meet today in Torrance California each month. One thing they know is that they still stick together and it helps. Big time.
Have you seen the video that shows you how to acknowledge a service person. You touch your heart and swing your arm out like a rainbow. It adds a sign to your quiet look. It's a thank you.
Thank you for the personal blog. I always show my appreciation to every service person I see. Thank you for your family members service.
