Endre Barath, you mean to tell me you had a life before becoming a Beverly Hills Realtor?
Yes, I did have a life before I became a Beverly Hills Realtor and it was fun too. Every job and career position that I’ve had, I applied the same focus and energy as if there would be no other future opportunities for me and executed my job to the best of my abilities.
Some of you already know that I was an Airborne Ranger Infantry Captain in the US Army. Over the years, I was promoted from a Mechanized Infantry Platoon Leader to Executive Officer to Acting Company Commander, and finally to Brigade Headquarters Commandant positions. That gave me the opportunity to work with subordinates, peers and higher-ranking officers from various socio-economic backgrounds. I strived to give them guidance, instruction and most of all leadership. In order to be successful in these various leadership positions, I had to hone my people skills. In hindsight, this was beneficial training ground to become a Beverly Hills Realtor, since Beverly Hills is a destination place from all over the Globe. I then served five plus years in the military, four of them in Germany. During this time, I had the opportunity to travel all over Europe - Italy, Belgium, Holland and Greece just to name a few. I was having way too much fun. Hence, it was time for me to go home, back to Waterbury, Connecticut.
Adjusting to ‘civilian life’ brought me to Contract Security Management and Sales and ultimately to Boston, MA. That’s where I met Diane and came upon a career defining moment. It was time for me to make a change. Having helped my parents buy a home and then buying my own home, I had always felt I could do a better job; hence it was clear that I should become a Realtor.
Being a Ranger I learned that proper planning, preparation and perseverance to accomplish the mission was not just a requirement, it was a must. Being exhausted was not an excuse or a reason not to achieve the goal. Having international Real Estate clients with whom I need to communicate often late at night or early in the morning has become the norm. I always look forward to the challenges of overcoming language, cultural barriers and customs to help those clients buy or sell their properties.
Here I will admit to a pet peeves, that being I will never answer a blind number/restricted phone number. I provide my mobile phone to the public and will always answer when I am available. That is the same number that my friends and relatives have. Nor do I have a private email, only the one that everyone sees on the World Wide Web. Hence, it bothers me when someone requests information with a “throw away” email addresses (yahoo1234567, 12345gmail) you get the idea.
If you’ve read this far, you might ask, “Endre how did you end up in Beverly Hills, CA?” The answer is easy, Diane had an opportunity to become an Office Manager for a Law firm in Los Angeles. I assured her that being a Realtor on Beacon Hill in Boston, MA should be no different than being a Realtor in Beverly Hills, CA. We both loved the idea of living near the Pacific Ocean and 23+ years later, we still love it here. So I will keep on going.
