THE OATH (life swear)

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with people first...then business Ran Right Realty 636943 licensed to thrill

Two people decide to marry. Ages ago it was marked by ceremony that represented a significant change in ones life. At some point, the people involved decided to make a promise out of it or an oath something that when given is the ultimate marker for any subject, product or deed. An oath was a high commitment to high-ness and a person made a pledge toward that height

Marriage oath: Consisting of allegiance to one under various circumstances. In sickness or in health, richer or poorer, for better or for worse, have to hold, love & cherish and get this kicker: TILL DEATH DO US PART. There was a time when this was necessary to survive. Today, it has been updated & personalized

THEN THEY ADDED....

The word solemn to it. This is a serious and sober approach to the subject adding dignity and honesty and when you place the two words together "solemn oath" you are inviting the divine to join or intervene. We refer to it as a blessing. This type of swearing in (or to) is considered the cornerstone of civilized society

OATH of OFFICE

Many deputized positions as well as any Federal ones require an oath of office consisting of loyalty, fealty to the position and the institution behind it. Congress takes oaths as does the President not to leave out peace officers and special duty as found in military operations and more.

OATH of ALLEGIANCE

We all took an oath and continue to do so when we recite the pledge of allegiance. Take a moment and review the words. We are agreeing definitively to live a certain way in America while living under this flag. People who are not born here and are made citizens take a more detailed oath but no less meaningful.

THE PURPOSE of an OATH

It binds us to our duties, to each other and to a shared common interest. It is where the buck stops, people must honor and realize and carry-out the promise. The duration of the promise can be short, medium or long or as in marriage (and military) oathing...death! An oath is a stand personal by nature to be carried out

YOU CAN MAKE UP YOUR OWN OATH TOO

Remember Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind? She swears unto the heavens and anyone who can hear that she will never go hungry again as God is her witness and if you watched the movie or read the book she doesn't go hungry. We too can incite an oath to family, self, friends and to God too.

WILL YOU TAKE THE STAND

With hand on bible or if you object just your word of honor you promise to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Why? The stakes are so high that they summon these dynamics to signify so and they also throw in criminal statutes called perjury if you don't. Court cases can change or end lives

I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU FOR THIS....whoa

Oaths can be made in anger fueled by emotions and irrational thinking that convey a very powerful message but not the one stated but instead the one behind the statement made. What someone is saying is that this is so unacceptable to me and beyond words that if you don't listen or speak with me about it I curse you for it!

GO TO HELL

Every time I have heard this said I took note. At first it is colorful and thrown out there and has an effect intended by the user. However once you read up on hell, why would you curse someone to that? Now many of us have stated this phrase: There is a special place in hell for......(fill in the blank). This is frightening

JUDGE NOT AND YOU WILL NOT BE JUDGED

To examine a persons life from inception to death reviewing every second and circumstance is impossible yet that is what formed the person before us all. Who can deny we all came in loving little innocent babies until forces not friendly went to work on us planned or not... directly or indirectly chosen or random

WHATEVER MEASURE YOU RELEASE

The measure under which we ourselves invoke and put on others for the most part will be used on us for this simple reason. If we deemed it proper for someone the old cliche of: What is good for the goose is good for the gander is awakened. Now there are exceptions like juries, military judges acting under law to do so

IMPLIED CONDUCT

When we take a position for work, or interact socially or in public there are implied codes of conduct sort of informal oaths but none the less powerful. We do wait for our turn, we do what we agreed to do if hired and don't cut in front of other people in line. Public conduct is oath driven in general form

THE DRIVERS LICENSE

We don't pay too much attention to this. When I was a kid and I qualified for a permit to drive, I did whatever I was told to get that privilege. Once obtained, some of us couldn't help testing the limits of what a car can do or how fast it can do it thus violating the privilege. Permission to drive is conditional a gentle oath and can be taken away if ones driving conduct merits it. We control that message

WORDS DRIVEN BY OATH

Words can hurt or help and even hinder to those that are emotionally driven and reactionary to them. But behind those noises and driven by our characters is the silent oath of life that each one of us acts out daily unto our own consciences & finally to the life-giver. Being light-hearted & carefree is a silent oath to do so

Richie- your post brought to mind a Women's Council of Realtors I attended years ago. One of the agents whom I admire was asked to lead us all in the Pledge of Allegiance. But first, he asked that we not just recite the oath but to take the time to think about exactly what we were saying...what we were pledging to do.

The most important oath, in my opinion, is the unspoken one we have with self to be the best version of humanity while fulfilling our purpose and potential.  It makes me think the rest of the oaths you have highlighted in this post would take care of themselves. Thanks for wonderful reflection this morning, Richie. Have a great Sunday.

Richie, once upon a time, an oath was a pledge that was unbreakable no matter what the outcome, but today, an oath is often a step to the next step wherever that takes us. Those of us who have sworn a solemn oath find it more difficult to break it rather than ignore it.

A very thought-provoking post.

I don't agree with you when you say "JUDGE NOT AND YOU WILL NOT BE JUDGED" because what I see is people judging others all day every day. Just turn on the news for 5 minutes - or listen to employees in a bank or store criticizing the customer who just left.

Interesting perspective. Words do matter and the actions from those words matter even more.  My sense is the Realtors' Code of Ethics is also a pledge and one mo;re Realtors should think about as you advise and then translate into positive actions. Thank you Richie Alan Naggar

Hello Mike Cooper, GRI ...yes to your comment and thank you Coop

Hi there Marte Cliff ...consider that we are called to make righteous judgments as part of our devotion and allegiance to the Eternal Truths. Secondary judgments should be approached with caution, charity & justice but dealt with!

Hi there Leanne Smith ...the noises we make/hear are relevant as to call attention to what is going on behind them. Thank you for your commenting

Hello there Sharon Tara ...yes to sharing, caring, exploring & knowing each other. This is intimacy and it is very rewarding when engaged. Best to you
