I decided to accept an impossible mission because a friend was needing my help. So, I grabbed my camera and my tape measure, and jumped in my Jeep!

My mission? Enhance the showings on a newly built $1.3 Million home.

The challenge:

Feedback from showings is that the main living area is too dark, and the kitchen is too modern.

MY challenges:

  • The client is a friend
  • The budget is TINY
  • A recent tornado in our area has made rental furniture scarce
  • There is a ton of dark wood in this space

Here is what I had to work with:

I knew I needed a powerful weapon to complete this mission. I looked into my staging arsenal, and the answer was easy!

I think you will agree...mission accomplished!

Elaine-Wow!  What a fun space.  Your use of red looks fantastic!

You made the impossible possible Elaine.  There's something wacky going on with AR this morning because none of your pictures are showing up and neither are anyone's profile photos.  I did check out this blog last night though.  I didn't have time to comment but I did see the photos then.  I love the red that you used - makes the room come alive.

Patricia- I just got a call from my builder friend and he is very excited about how it looks! I wanted to say "And we got featured!" but it's so hard to explain to non-AR members the significance of that!

Maureen- Thanks so much! Yeah, I used to love that show, too!

Deb- A TINY budget in this case was under a grand! And all four bathrooms were staged for that price!

Terrylynn- I hadn't used red in awhile and then I used it twice this week!

Ardell- There was something about this job that made my daughter and I hungry when we were finished up! Eye candy...maybe that's it!

Christine- Too bad we can't get all those buyers back that already looked at it! A good example of why seller's should stage BEFORE it goes on the market!

S & D- We shall see. I do think it has a much better chance now!

Michele- My daughter and I had so much fun on this project. I was very low on inventory so we got to do a lot of shopping!!!

Charlene- Yeah, that was weird to turn on my computer and see I was a ghost head! And my header photo was gone which took me hours to figure out how to do! But, looks like things are back to normal (for now). Glad you got to see the photos before they vanished! I agree, there was no life in this space before.

Exsqueeze me?  That was all the inventory you had left?  No wonder all your work is  so great - and WORKS!  Happy Staging - Julie

Elaine - OMGee, I have that same kitchen table and chairs, I reupholstered them in RED!

It looks fantastic, modern kitchen, yet warmed up with the palate.

Jou, did a fantastic job, mahn! (jes, there ees an accent!)

Julia- Only the lamp and dishes are new in this shot. I had to buy a ton of towels because if you include these four, I have sixteen bathrooms staged right now!

Amber- This is not the set I originally had planned, but when they delivered the wood one, it was clashing terribly with the wood already in there! So, glass and metal is a great option when you are working with so much wood! I bet they look pretty with red seats! Tank jou veery much, mahn!

Hi Elaine- Red is such an energetic color, and the your accents look great! Did you take your "inspiration" from the pendant lighting fixtures? Kathy

Thanks, Michele! Now, I just keep my fingers crossed! If all goes well, I could wind up staging ALL the homes he builds, AND all the listings for his agent!!! There is a lot riding on this one!
