I'm the most grateful for the love of a little boy

I know that Tammy Lankford, has a lot of love in her heart, especially for her Grandson.  I have seen it in my Mom's eyes how special it is to be a Grandmother!

In April 2018 my life changed forever.  Now don't get me wrong, my life was pretty great before that.  But if you have been given a title like "Grammy" you know how special it is.  If you haven't yet, but have kids then I hope some day you will know that love and joy like I do.

Cooper had a rough start and spent the first little bit in a NICU and I would go and sit with him.  We couldn't hold him and it was just torture.  I did get a brief, maybe one minute prior to them rushing out with him.

Donald had a couple minutes as well and although I didn't have my camera to capture it, I have the beautiful memory of Donald singing Happy Birthday to Cooper on the day he was born. It's clear in my mind like it happened 5 minutes ago and deeply instilled into my heart.

Now I loved this little guy from the minute I knew he was on the way, but now that he is walking and talking and so very smart that love is a two way street.  He will snuggle, not for long, but up next to me and say "I You"  That's his current 19 month old self's reply to I love you.

I babysit a few times a month for a few hours in the evenings and the occassional day during the day, but not much.  His mom is a nurse who works in the ER and works 3 or 4 12 hour shifts with an hour drive to and from work and his daddy is a firefighter/medic at work every third day. They attempt to let him have a parent at home as much as possible, but sometimes they both work the same day so grandparents and great grandparents get to spend time with him.

He's really a sweet little guy and super smart.  He was 19 months old yesterday and I bet he knows 1000 words.  If he hears a plane he sayd "airplane and looks up to see if he can spot it", he knows the name of animals, he knows his colors and his favorite is green.  He loves tractors, trucks and cars. He can count to 5 and we're working on the ABC song currently.  He loves itsy bitsy spider and baby shark.  And he remembers people and their names.  At my office Jennie and Joe are like two extra grandparents and he adores them and they him.  I am so grateful to have him in my day to day life.

My daughter and her husband are living in a camper and about halfway finished building a home and it's just 4 miles from my house and about 12 miles from the great grandparents house.  She's calling it her forever home and I'm so very thankful that they made the choice to be close to us.

I am currently sitting in the tiny camper, in the dark listening to the rain fall and tiny little breathing of a sleeping boy and two dogs. January is the target date for the house.  The rain needs to stop to make that happen, but the last inspection passed with flying colors so full speed ahead.

But back to Cooper.  He has brought so much joy to my life and I'm so thankful that I have the time I do with him.  I don't know what he will do with his life, but I sure hope I'm lucky enough to live to see it.  I am making him a Facebook page... it's a private group and it's just for me and Cooper (once he's old enough to have facebook I'll invite him to join). I write to him ... with pictures and posts frequently.  I hope that some day he will enjoy reading them and know how very much I love him.

A heart can always love more.  No matter how many people you love, there is always room for people and more love.  Make sure to tell the people you love how very much you love them.
