As we approach Thanksgiving it is appropriate to give thanks for the wonderful blessings that God has given us. Some are small and some are large and some give us peace and tranquility.
Today, I give thanks for the wondrous beauty of God's creation and the outdoors. During the last month I was in the Snoqualmie Washington outside of Seattle. I came upon Golden Creek Pond and was treated to this awesome view and reflection of the snow capped mountain reflecting in the pond. Everything was perfect and I arrived, by chance, just at the right time of day. I took the photo with the camera in my smart phone.

Thank you Lord for peace and tranquility and places like this where we can go and reflect on you and your awesome creation.
Sometimes we all need a place to go, maybe not so far away, but a place where we can get away from the everday comings and goings of life and sit and think and give thanks. A secluded place in a park, a spot along a river, a hiking trail where can find the perfect quiet spot, or if you are in the city go up on the roof and put out a chair and let the heavens jump out in front of you "and the stars put on a show for free".
Up On the Roof
The Drifters in 1962 had it right in their hit song "Up On the Roof"
The roof may be your quiet outdoors spot if you live in the city. Think about these "Up On The Roof" lyrics sung by The Drifters:
[Intro]
(Up on the roof)
(Up on the roof)
[Verse]
When this old world starts getting me down
And people are just too much for me to face (Up on the roof)
I climb way up to the top of the stairs
And all my cares just drift right into space (Up on the roof)
On the roof, it's peaceful as can be
And there, the world below can't bother me
Let me tell you now
[Verse 2]
When I come home feeling tired and beat
I go up where the air is fresh and sweet (Up on the roof)
I get away from the hustlin' crowds
And all that rat race noise down in the street (Up on the roof)
On the roof's the only place I know
Where you just have to wish to make it so
Let's go up on the roof (Up on the roof)
[Verse 3]
At night, the stars put on a show for free
And, darling, you can share it all with me
I keep-a tellin' you
Right smack dab in the middle of town
I found a paradise that's trouble-proof (Up on the roof)
And if this world starts getting you down
There's room enough for two up on the roof (Up on the roof)
[Outro]
Up on the roof (Up on the roof)
Oh, come on, baby (Up on the roof)
Oh, come on, honey (Up on the roof)
Everything is all right (Up on the roof)
It is actually kind of a fun idea, if you do not have your private outdoor spot, to find one this year.
If you need some ideas for peaceful areas in the Phoenix metro or are new to the area just ask me for help. Of course, the best spot is where everyone else does not go.
