SPEECHLESS SUNDAYS - Queen Charlotte

Oh, Sheri Sperry - MCNE® how lucky were you to have had Mittens for 20 years - that's incredible as more often than not, 10 years is 'average' and that's just so quick. We spent much of last night cuddling with her and reminiscing about our time with her - she was one special kitty.

Our children and their friends and their friends' parents all knew her and no one could believe how 'dog-like' she was. She wasn't shy or skittish and always wanted to be part of the party. Someone was always carrying that cat around like a baby...and she loved it! So, today was, as you said, one of the hardest days of my life. I was definitely feeling your pain of 4 years ago. 

We also opted for the same post-mortuary treatment as you. We have her first buddy, Snoopy (a dog who raised her!) in the same box and with a clay paw print. Every time I see Snoopy's paw print, it puts a smile on my face; I only hope to get to that point with Charlotte's clay print. Right now, I just can't stop the tears. 😢 

And we did, George Souto. I don't think that cat could have been loved more - she was such a special kitty!

Bob Crane, yes, that is ultimately what got Charlotte as well - it just came out of nowhere too. Such a sad day - I can't tell you how many tears we cried today.

As Diane said, it's the intuitiveness that we all love about cats...and their antics, compassion... Gosh, I miss her so very much.

She truly was, Sheila Anderson - I've never had a cat like her.

Nina Hollander - I'm so glad that you were able to stay with Oliver until the end; so many people just can't do that. For me, it was such a relief to be holding her and know that she passed in peace.

I haven't mentioned this here before but, will later write a post. I had a quick 'listing' meeting to see how much the seller had done to prepare for the market on Thursday. We were doing our tour of the house and looking out on the patio (it was warm outside so, don't think anything negative!),  I spotted a black & white cat in her yard. I asked whose cat it was and she said hers but, she was going to have to take it back to the shelter! She is my age and never knew that she was allergic to cats but, is severely allergic - so much so that the allergist can't give her shots for it!

So, after this meeting, I was taking Charlotte to the vet and asked him if he thought she would be able to tolerate us adopting another cat. He said Charlotte probably didn't have too much longer to live (at the pace she was losing weight) and that it may not be a good idea. "She needs your undivided attention now but, if you can keep them separated, then, yes." 

I wasn't going to hurt Charlotte at all so, of course, I didn't bring the other kitty home. It also wouldn't have been fair to bring a new baby into the house and then the humans be totally focused on 'the other kitty.'

Someone is keeping the cat until Ray and I are ready to take her. She's a bit older (5 years old) but, is so darned sweet. She'll fit in well with our fur baby boys (dogs) too.

Oh, Sheila Anderson, I'm so sorry you're still hurting. I really don't believe that pain ever goes away - it may take on a new direction but, that hole is still in our hearts. I'm so happy to hear that DD is settling in well - I had no doubt - you're an amazing fur baby mama! And, you're right, I think she's helping you as much as you're helping her. 

I think Elizabeth is going to pick up the kitty today for us - I figure every day we leave her there is another day that she'll be missing out on all of the love we have in our hearts to give.

Me too, Tammy Lankford, - I'm still crying at every turn but, know it will get easier but, never go away. She's gone and left a big ole' hole in my heart!

I'm so sorry I missed you and didn't phone you back. I was just a wee bit overwhelmed this week - with grief and work.
