If there has been one very important and sustaining thread in and over the course of my life it has been the pets I have had. Gratitude alone doesn't begin to explain it. I am lucky to be able to love and be loved by the dogs I have been blessed to have as my family. As I write this I have tears streaming down my face looking at the four rescues I have now have. I cry too for those that are now gone but never ever forgotten. Pets get it, they are empathetic in ways that can not be explained, and they bring such joy and happiness it is impossible to describe except to others who have known the feeling personally.
It is said that one has truly not lived without experiecing the love of a dog. (or cat if that is your preference). I really believe this and have had the good fortune to have loved 13 dogs in my life, icluding the three I fostered and consider my G-d dogs still.
Life doesn't always give us what we thought we wanted, but always provides a chance for us to give it to others. I have been blessed again and again in my life to share my world with Dusty, Mitchell, Mickey Scott, Molly San, Buddy Miles, Button, Margie Bea, Finn Bar T, Billy the Kid (whom I still mourn), Carly, and now DD Beth.
My life is immeasurably better for the furchildren I have been blessed to know and love and I encorage anyone who is sad or depressed to save a life and enhance your own.
